Hall will reprise his role as Dexter Morgan, who now goes by the name Jim Lindsay, in the debut episode of ‘Dexter: New Blood.’ Clancy Brown, David Magidoff, Julia Jones, Alano Miller, Johnny Sequoyah, Jack Alcott, and Jennifer Carpenter, who will reprise her role as Dexter’s sister Debra Morgan, round out the cast for the revived miniseries. Debra died in the Season 8 finale, and she will reappear in Dexter: New Blood as a figment of Dexter’s imagination. Jamie Chung, Oscar Wahlberg, Michael Cyril Creighton, and Katy Sullivan are among the series’ recurring cast members. Arthur Mitchell, the Trinity Killer, will be played by John Lithgow in a cameo appearance.

The search for Matt continues on Dexter’s land. Harrison gets to fly the drone. Logan, the assistant coach, asks Harrison if he wants to wrestle for the school team. Angela says there’s been a break in the investigation and they should return to the station. A meeting with the school principal. She expresses concern over his GPA dropping and rising again. Harrison’s stepmother died. Harrison explains that he was adopted from Argentina and raised in Miami. The principal asks Dexter where he was, but Harrison explains that “Jim” had no way to reach them. Tess, Harrison’s science teacher, comes. His Spanish speaking amazes her. Dexter goes to the cops. Esther tells him Angela is at a meeting about the deer footage. Kurt, Teddy, Logan, and a reservation worker are watching footage in Angela’s office. Angela asks Dexter if the figure he saw carrying the rifle he sold Matt is him. He confirms it, proving Matt shot the buck. The reservation worker shows them further footage of a second guy following Matt. Their cameras are set up for animal tracking, not crime surveillance, therefore no film of the two figures meeting exists.

To protect the crime scene, Angela instructs Teddy to call tribal police. Kurt is enraged and venting on Angela. Angela clarifies that the new evidence makes it a criminal probe. Dexters offers to compile a list of all local hunters. Then interview everyone Matt spoke to in the 48 hours before he vanished. Harrison meets Zach and Scott after the placement test. They’re texting a nerd, Ethan, pretending to be a pretty female. Dexter brings Angela a hunting licence list. She bemoans Kurt and others who have doubted her ability since she joined the force. Damien, the detective, arrives. Dexter and Kurt both wish to observe his work. But only if they keep away from the crime site. Damien finds some unusually coagulated blood at the crime scene. He tests it and finds it to be human. Damien deduces that it was probably combined with deer blood to hide it. Damien accurately explains what happened: Matt and his attacker met at the deer’s carcass, a fight ensued, and Matt fell back, striking his head on a boulder. Damien notices the rock is gone. He detects malice. Damien pulls a sample from Kurt’s mouth to analyse the human blood for family DNA. The principal calls Dexter to come to school. The principal informs Dexter that he has the highest placement exam score ever. They think he cheated. Retaking the exam is recommended. Harrison feels sad because his father is absent. Angela tells Dexter afterward that search dogs would arrive in the morning. Deb taunts Dexter, stating the dogs will locate the body instantly. Harrison tells Dexter he retook the test and earned a better score. Kurt is alone at home. That the results are in, and that the blood is most likely Matt’s. In response to his criticism, she points out that killing a buck on Seneca land was illegal. Angela tells him about her non-government-funded search efforts and how far they will go to find Matt. Dexter digs up the body late at night. He takes Matt’s vest and sprints through the woods until he reaches the highway, leaving a trail for the police dogs. The watcher equips up and opens the door where Lily is held captive. Lily finds herself at a dead end. She dashes through the corridor, up the stairs, and into the freezing night. She runs through the snow.

The watcher aims his weapon at her and shoots her dead at his front door. When Dexter returns, Harrison is eating. Dexter lies about helping birth a lamb. Harrison asks Dexter to drive him to school. Logan approaches Dexter, explaining that Angela has assigned him to interview everyone who knew Matt before he vanished. So Dexter says he’ll take Harrison to school and return for lunch. Les chows policier A glove from Matt is given to the dogs. Molly Park arrives to assist in the hunt. So she goes to Logan. Dexter picks up Harrison. Deb suggests burying Matt’s body in a lake or cemetery, or even putting him through a woodchipper. He dismisses the suggestions as impracticable and declares himself “one and done.” The watcher cleans Lily’s body, then embalms her. Angela goes to the reservation to find Johnny Bullhorn. Miriam assures Angela that Johnny has the illness and she has been caring for him. It’s “about Iris,” Angela claims, but she runs the inquiry as she would any other. Miriam recalls Iris’ desire to join Angela in the city and form a band. Harrison eats lunch at school. Audrey summons him, but Harrison chooses Ethan instead. A fake internet girlfriend, Harrison tells him, has been catfishing Ethan. Logan interrogates Dexter about Matt. Logan also inquires about Dexter’s hunting practices, given he lacks a licence. To protect himself, Dexter only goes hiking in the woods. A Remington 700, quite prevalent in Iron Lake, is identified by Dexter as belonging to the second man on the infrared tape. Logan keeps asking Dexter where he was when Matt vanished, and Dexter keeps answering.

Back at the store, Dexter mulls over the body. He sees the iron mine as a solution. Affirming his request, Fred Jr. enables him to go early to assist in the hunt. Harrison has Ethan transmit a crude GIF of Zach having sex with a goat. In response, Ethan smiles. Ethan slaps Zach in the face. Harrison grabs Zach by the neck and threatens him, urging him to leave Ethan alone. Audrey arrives and offers Harrison a ride. Audrey inquires about the hallway brawl. To be tortured by Zach and the others since elementary school, Ethan said. A element of small-town life, says Audrey Harrison claims he’s moved a lot and has no idea. When she asks where he acquired the choking motion, he answers he learned it in foster care. Audrey and Harrison go to the butcher for dinner. As Gig wraps the sausages, he reminds them of the white stag. Audrey returns to it, appalled by the treatment of such a creature. Audrey is disappointed when Gig says sanitation will dispose of it. Harrison advises they use it instead. Dexter straps on his snowshoes and hikes to the ancient iron mine. Audrey presses Harrison on his father-son bond, but he refuses. Audrey says her father is dead when Harrison asks about him. She admits that Angela did not give her birth, but she considers her mother. Audrey’s guitar is in the rear. The automobile fails. Audrey deduces a faulty radiator. Harrison admires her vehicle knowledge. Audrey can’t get a signal so she sends Harrison down the road to call the mechanic. Dexter has arrived at the mine. A automobile approaches Audrey. It’s Olson. He exits and asks for a ride, but Audrey says Harrison has already called for aid. He offers to keep her warm in his car, but she declines, explaining that she knows who he is and how he is ruining the globe. He exits after pointing out her gas-powered car. Harrison’s back. Dexter explores the mine, discovering a deep shaft suitable for his needs. But a bear appears from the shadows, and Dexter must flee. Angela calls and invites him to supper. He refuses at first, but when Audrey invites Harrison, he accepts. Ethan thanks Harrison for standing up to Zach and the others. He shows Harrison some of his drawings of the bullies being beaten up. Angela tells Audrey, Dexter, and Harrison that the police dogs were unsuccessful. Audrey mentions true-crime podcaster Molly Park’s visit. Dexter says she was shopping earlier. Audrey confirms her interest in true crime to Harrison. She says Abraham called her earlier to notify her about their reservation trip. Audrey said she only wanted to respect the deer.
