Gaslit Season 2: What will happen to the second season of Gaslit?

Gaslit, a political drama series created by Robbie Pickering, centered around the Watergate Scandal. What sets this show apart from other documentaries and TV shows on the incident is that it focuses on the fewer characters involved. For example, Martha Mitchell, the wife of Richard Nixon’s Attorney General John N. Mitchell, was one of the first to break the news of Watergate to the rest of the world. Despite this, she has been mostly forgotten by history. ‘Gaslit,’ based on Leon Neyfakh’s podcast ‘Slow Burn,’ highlights her efforts and portrays her as a tragic figure who didn’t get her due during her lifetime. After its first showing, “Gaslit” got mostly good reviews from critics and the general public. There was a lot of praise for the stellar cast’s performances and for how relevant the story was to the 2020s. But the overall plot of the show was also criticized for being too confusing. Just recently, the first season came to an end.  If you want to know if there will be a second season, we have the answer.

Are You Ready for Gaslit Episode 8 [Finale] John Dean’s Fate

When will the second season of Gaslit be released?

Season 1 of ‘Gaslit’ started on Starz on April 24, 2022, and lasted eight episodes (52-61 minutes) before ending on June 12, 2022. This is what we know about the sophomore season.

The series’ producers and Starz execs have both declined to comment on the chance of a second season. The first season of ‘Gaslit,’ as previously stated, is a retelling of the Watergate Scandal, with a special focus on Martha Mitchell. The show recounts the events surrounding the Watergate Scandal, as well as Martha’s and others’ roles in it. It ends with Martha’s death and brief explanations of what happened to the show’s other significant historical players. The series appears to be over in terms of plot, and it most likely is.

However, this does not rule out the possibility of a second season of ‘Gaslit.’ Pickering and his team may decide to develop ‘Gaslit’ into an anthology series, with future seasons focused on different historical political events in the United States. The second season of Neyfakh’s ‘Slow Burn’ centers around the impeachment of Bill Clinton. Despite the fact that it served as a partial inspiration for FX’s ‘ACS’s third season, it might still be used as source material for the upcoming second season of ‘Gaslit.’

In the end, it all boils down to how well the first season goes. Season 2 of ‘Gaslit’ will premiere in 2024 if the show is renewed within the next few months.

Who Could Be in the Cast of Gaslit Season 2?

Seasons of an anthology series usually have different casts, although there are some significant changes. Ryan Murphy, the creator of “American Horror Story” and executive producer of “American Crime Story,” frequently casts the same actors in different roles over the seasons of his shows. Pickering might perhaps follow suit and bring back some cast members from the first season to play new characters in the next season 2. It’s also feasible that these roles will be played by new actors.

Actors will be cast to play President Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and Monica Lewinsky, among others, if the second season adapts Clinton’s impeachment. Given that John Dean was working as a speaker, author, and investment banker at the time of his impeachment, Stevens and Gilpin may reprise their roles.

What Could the Plot of Gaslit Season 2 Be?

Nixon resigns from the presidency in the first season finale of ‘Gaslit.’ Martha gets diagnosed with cancer and passes away. John Dean is released from prison and joins Mo in California. The fates of major individuals other than Martha are addressed near the end of the episode. The credit begins with a floral arrangement during Martha’s burial, which spells out “Martha was right.” If Pickering and his team opted to base the second season on Clinton’s impeachment, it may represent Clinton and Lewinsky’s sexual relationship. It has the ability to display Paula Jones’s sexual harassment case against Clinton. The show will most likely focus on the lesser-known characters involved in the incident as it did in the first season.
