The Third Season of Evil Features a Title Card Tribute: Peter Scolari, Who is he?

On Sunday, June 12, “Evil” returns for its third season. The show airs exclusively on Paramount Plus for the second year in a row. You probably saw the title card at the end of the Evil season 3 premiere episode and you are eager to know who is Peter Scolari.

Peter Thomas Scolari was an American actor. He was born on September 12, 1955, and was best known for playing Michael Harris on the TV show Newhart from 1984 to 1990 and Henry Desmond on the show Bosom Buddies from 1980 to 1982. Scolari was nominated for three Emmys for his work on Newhart, and his recurring role as Tad Horvath on Girls won him the 2016 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. Unfortunately, he died on October 22, 2021, after a two-year battle with cancer. The actor who won an Emmy is survived by his wife Tracy Shayne and his four children, Nicholas, Joseph, Kreaton, and Cali. This episode was the first time the series was able to properly remember him. Peter’s collection of work is massive, and we believe he influenced a lot of people in the acting field over the years. He was also a skilled voice actor, holding a long list of credits to his name in that field.

If you’re a serious follower of the show, you’re probably already familiar with Scolari. As Bishop Thomas Marx, (recurring role, for 9 episodes) the actor has played an essential role in the drama during the last few seasons. As a result, he established himself as an important member of the ensemble and someone with whom the entire cast and crew could interact behind the scenes. His absence will reverberate throughout the rest of Evil. This program, as insane and intense as it can be at times, is still a show about characters at its foundation. It’s what keeps the plot grounded and allows the writers’ imaginations to go wild. Naturally, our thoughts and condolences continue to be with Scolari’s friends, family, and loved ones during this sad time.

For those who are unaware, title cards are one of the most effective methods for a series to pay tribute to someone they care about after they die away. These are frequently placed in a prominent location where viewers can see them, and they will also air with all subsequent viewings. It may compel viewers to learn more about that person and the impact they had behind the scenes.
