911 Lone Star Season 3 Episode 15 Recap

Captain Owen Strand’s (Rob Lowe) rage treatment sessions have resulted in the latter. His therapist asked him to write down the times during the week when he felt his fury rising, and let’s just say it’s a big list. Owen was serious when he said he’s always irritated; he simply doesn’t know why. The therapist thinks that the source of his rage may be deeper than he realizes, and recommends that he undergo EMDR, which will busy his active mind while freeing up his unconscious mind, in the hopes of uncovering the source of his rage. The therapist has him write out what he sees in his mind’s eye while watching a ball on the screen: a spot on his lung, the tumor; his son in a hospital bed, intubated; and a clown’s large red nose. Owen claims that it doesn’t signify anything and that he doesn’t have an excessive or acute fear of clowns.

Then Owen goes back to therapy to brag about how he saw The Greatest Show on Earth, a circus, without a hitch, proving he has nothing to do with clowns. “Are you sure about that, Sonny-boy?” his therapist asks as he transforms into a clown. Owen awakens from his nightmare in his bed, and his nickname clearly means something to him. Owen accuses his therapist of inception him and leaving him with more neuroses than when he originally entered the clinic. The 126 then gets a call about a clown (a parent dressed up as one for his son’s birthday party in order to see him), and Owen is so terrified that Captain Tommy Vega (Gina Torres) wants to measure his blood pressure. He may be having a panic attack, but he believes he has everything under control as long as he stands still, she claims. So Owen takes a step back as everyone else works, giving firefighter Judd Ryder (Jim Parrack) an awkward thumbs up. When Judd says something about boys adoring their fathers, he begins to reflect.

Owen apologizes to his therapist and admits to being afraid of clowns in the episode’s last session. He also recalls the source of the name and recalls the moniker from his nightmare. His father is the only one who has ever nicknamed him that. Owen has never mentioned him, and he doesn’t know anything about him because he hasn’t seen him since he was twelve years old. He claims that he “abandoned the family.” And how did Owen feel about being apart from his family? “Shame. Terror. “I’m enraged,” says the captain.   Owen continues, ”  I’ve never talked to anyone about it until now.”  Owen goes home after his therapist tells him he’s not the right person to tell this to and tries to call his father, only to be told he’s unavailable. Is he willing to leave a message? Owen remains silent at the end of the episode.
