Supergirl Season 6 Episode 17 Recap

The episode continues off where the last one left off, with Lex Luthor summoned by Nyxly’s future awareness and coming before Nyxly. He gives Nyxly the gauntlets back and explains that he comes from the future to assist her in collecting the Totems. Lex tells Nyxly about his trip to the future, where they met and fell in love. She had obtained the AllStone in this alternate reality and had long since exacted her wrath. However, something about the manner she mastered the totems was incorrect, and it finally led to her death, which Lex has returned to avoid this time by completing it correctly. The Superfriends use a phoney Love Totem to lure Nyxly in, but Lex saves her. When Nyxly rejects him, he kidnaps Mitch and uses him in a scheme to seduce her. J’onn activates the Courage Totem by recalling a time when he failed to protect his daughters. Nyxly locates the Love Totem, but it vanishes during a battle with the Superfriends, prompting her to seek Lex’s assistance.

When Alex and Kelly propose to each other, the Love Totem emerges, but it is ostensibly destroyed in another struggle with Lex and Nyxly. Kara uses the Humanity Totem on Nyxly with Lena’s help, but Lex saves her and flees. Following that, the Superfriends celebrate Alex and Kelly’s engagement, and Brainy decides to seek help from the Legion of Superheroes in the future to stop Lex. Meanwhile, Andrea plots to reveal Lex’s alliance, but William, who is covertly meeting with Otis Graves, dismisses her intentions. She disguises herself as Acrata and takes a journal in order to expose Lex. Finally, Lex informs Nyxly that the Totems cannot be destroyed forever and will rebuild over time. He demonstrates this by showing her the Hope Totem he brought back with him in the future. As soon as Nyxly realises this, Esme is designated as the new Love Totem, and the Love Totem’s insignia emerges on her neck. The stakes are going to rise even higher as the series draws to a close, with Esme now drawn into the struggle as the Love Totem.
