In the winter of 1999, Megan’s behavior becomes more complex as she begins to flirt with Jeff (Nile Bullock). This could be her way of letting go of her affection for Luke. Jeff’s prior negative behavior raises questions about their connection, though. Megan states in December 1999 that she wants to work as a “white hat hacker” to support her mother financially. She finds Isabella’s bathing suit in Luke’s bathroom, raising the possibility of a love relationship between Isabella (Lexi Underwood) and Luke or possibly Brent, Luke’s brother, who is renowned for making content for revenge porn featuring minors. Additionally, Megan discovers that Luke had intended to leave the house before his strange death, but she kept this knowledge from Luke’s father.
Izzie additionally sees Megan throw away what seems to be blood-stained clothing. In contrast to how she treated Isabella, the exchange student from another country, Debbie (Lisa Yamada), Megan’s mother, shows a greater willingness to stand by her daughter when she becomes the target of revenge porn. Megan is angry that Isabella has access to a sizable sum of money while her hard-earned money is gone. When Megan discovers Isabella’s bikini in Luke’s bathroom, her resentment at Brent grows, and Isabella picks up her quest for Brent’s homemade revenge-porn movies. In a heated dinner scene that sets for a showdown between the protagonists, Debbie confronts Brent and demands an apology for his behavior.
At the end of the episode, a plumber comes to Debbie and Megan’s home to repair the pipe, and Steve sends a $6,000 apology cheque.
