Cruel Summer Season 2 Episode 8 Recap

Luke (Griffin Gluck) is attracted to a cabin by Megan, who is seeking revenge, on the premise of having kiηky sex.   To get him to confess, she ties him up and mixes cola, rum, and benzodiazepine tablets. Although Luke acknowledges making the sex tape, he maintains that he didn’t want anyone else to view it and that he is unsure of who played it at the party. Isabella is there for the confession, but she is devastated by Luke’s admission that he slept with Isabella before he slept with Megan, which betrays Megan’s belief that she and Luke had shared their virginities.

As Luke manipulates the situation and incites a confrontation between Megan and Isabella, tensions rise. Luke reminds Megan of private talks in which she described Isabella as smothering and obsessed as she is surprised by Isabella’s lies. Isabella confronts Luke about his part in forcing her to lie out of wrath. When Isabella pulls out a gun and fires, the show comes to an explosive conclusion and the screen goes black.

Due to Luke’s death and the police learning of Megan and Isabella’s falsehoods regarding the sex tape, things for Megan and Isabella in the Summer 2000 timeline get worse. In an attempt to get surveillance footage that could show their presence at the cabin on the night of Luke’s death, the girls are caught breaking into Ned’s home.

The party’s video was recorded on Jeff’s camcorder, and sheriff Myer (Sean Blakemore)has access to it. In this video, Megan and Isabella talk about making Luke regret meeting them. The girls’ predicament becomes dire, and it appears like one of them may have to turn against the other in order to avoid the repercussions.

Megan’s lack of emotional reaction to Luke’s passing has been apparent throughout the season, which has led some to wonder what her genuine thoughts are. The fact that Isabella is in possession of a gun further exacerbates the situation. Answers are anticipated with only two episodes left, and it seems neither girl is wholly blameless.
