Claire makes an attempt to persuade Buss to allow Jeanie to work on the Forum. Buss, on the other hand, rejects since Jeanie is caring for her grandmother. Buss learns that McKinney has been fired from his position as head coach of the Lakers. As a result, Buss must choose between reinstating McKinney and supporting Paul Westhead and his aide Pat Riley. The bus is on its way to Jerry West to assist him in his condition. West agrees to assist Buss in making a decision after some hesitation but asks for time. Riley, however, is concerned that he and Westhead may miss out on the opportunity to lead the Lakers to the NBA Finals.
Spencer Haywood makes a lot of noise during practice, which leads to a private conversation with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Haywood admits to being a cocaine addict but states that he will be clean before the game. Abdul-Jabbar, as a result, refuses to report his colleagues. Buss and Jeanie are concerned as Jessie’s condition deteriorates. Buss learned from the doctor that her mother had been alive for some days. Jessie had a stroke after spending time with his family at the lake, and she passes out. Jeanie is considering speaking with Buss about fully joining the Forum at that time.
