Is the Task Force shut down in The Blacklist?

In “The Blacklist” season 10 episode 20, the Task Force is not officially shut down, but it is seriously jeopardized by Rep. Arthur Hudson (Toby Leonard Moore) and FBI agent Jordan Nixon, who report their findings to Attorney General Stromberg. The squad is alarmed when Hudson accuses Red of a recent security lapse at the Capitol. They are not yet aware of the circumstances, though.

The Task Force’s future is in doubt in “The Blacklist” season 10 episode 20, “Arthur Hudson.” The Task Force and Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) are now in danger because Congressman Arthur Hudson has gathered damaging information against them. However, Raymond Reddington steps in and makes a strong statement in which he assigns himself the blame and defends the Task Force.

Cooper is put on the defensive when Hudson confronts him and offers proof of treason. Reddington interrupts the group while breaking into the screens and admitting guilt for the most recent security breach and nefarious acts. He makes it clear that the Task Force is blameless and shouldn’t be held responsible for his conduct.

Reddington tries to help, but the Task Force is ultimately disbanded. Cooper informs the agents that Task Force 836 has been disbanded and that they are now responsible for their activities. The operations of the Task Force are audited by Hudson and the FBI.

Dembe is able to alert Reddington to the danger and advise him to leave in the meantime. When the FBI reaches the airstrip, Reddington enters his private jet, but the aircraft explodes. Reddington and his colleagues, including Weecha and pilot Edward, manage to escape unharmed after it is discovered that the jet had been equipped with explosives.

The absence of any bodies at the crash site, confirmed by the FBI, suggests that Reddington was not aboard. The decision to reactivate Task Force 836 with the goal of apprehending Reddington is made by Attorney General Stromberg. The Task Force is given the option of either prosecuting itself or choosing to detain Reddington.

When Cooper, who is conflicted, gets home, Reddington is there to greet him. Recognizing the altered situation, Reddington advises Cooper to “have a little fun on the way out.” Reddington challenges them to apprehend him if they can and advises that Cooper assign Donald Ressler to the assignment. Reddington then bids Cooper farewell and vanishes.

The Task Force must decide whether to prosecute Reddington or try to apprehend him before the episode can come to a close. Reddington is still at large, and his locations and future are uncertain. The destiny of the Task Force and Reddington’s ultimate fate is on the line in this episode, which sets the setting for the series climax.
