The new Naked and Afraid spinoff on Discovery is called Naked and Afraid: Solo, and it follows former participants as they attempt to survive in the wilderness for 21 days without a partner. It is an arced series in which all eight survivalists’ stories are linked, as opposed to the original Naked and Afraid, in which you only see one pair of survivalists per episode. Each episode takes place in a different location on at least three different continents and covers several stories. Each episode follows a group of survivalists as they face their greatest obstacle yet, whether it is in the sweltering Mexican jungle, the chilly African scrubland, or the South American North Atlantic coast rainforest of Guyana.

These include Kaila Cumings, a bladesmith and avid bowhunter who is looking for redemption after an early tap-out in her XL Next Level challenge in the Amazon; Terra Short, a transgender archer who is at home in the wilderness with nothing but their skills and a knife; and Cheeny Plante.

When the clip opens, eight groups of survivalists from three continents are dropped off in the middle of nowhere and are shown stripping down to their underwear before facing the greatest struggle of their lives. They’ve never been so vulnerable and scared before. The clips reacquaint us with the original Naked and Afraid contestants, such as bladesmith and avid bowhunter Kaila Cumings, who is looking for redemption after an early tap-out in her XL Next Level challenge in the Amazon; trans woman and archer Terra Short, who is most at home in the wilderness with just their skills and a knife; and jack-of-all-trades Cheeny Plante, who as a SERE instructor has taught critical survival skills to Air.
