Insecure Final Season 5 Episode 3 Recap

The season’s third episode opens with a depressing scenario in which Lawrence split ways with Issa, followed by a time jump. A few months later, the scenario shifts to San Francisco, where Lawrence is overachieving at his new job. His love life has improved substantially, but a call from Condola interrupts his night out with a lovely young lady. He has no choice but to fly to Los Angeles because she has just given birth to their newborn boy. Condola chooses the name of her and Lawrence’s son in the hospital. Lawrence, who likes the name Elijah, scoffs when she says the baby’s middle name will be Mustafa.
Lawrence bemoans Condola’s family’s dismissive attitude toward him to Chad, but vows to return to Los Angeles for Elijah’s doctor’s visit. Condola, on the other hand, plans the baby’s baptism without Lawrence’s awareness. She panics later at the ceremony when he expresses his desire to bring Elijah to his home. As a result, Condola’s distrust of her child’s father is clear. Lawrence’s everyday life consists primarily of sex and partying, whereas Condola is overburdened with duties. During his flight back to San Francisco, however, the plane encounters severe turbulence, and Lawrence notices a bright full moon that reminds him of Issa. He doesn’t dial her phone because of how they broke up a few months ago, instead calling Condola to reassure her that he is here for the baby.
