The episode turned tense when Scott played basketball with Chicago Police Cop Kevin Atwater and another officer they both knew. Shots rang out in a nearby structure, and the trio rushed to investigate. One of two kids playing with a gun was shot. Back at the hospital, Dr. Archer instituted a new protocol requiring everyone to register their time with each patient. Dr. Charles wasn’t thrilled about “incentive-based medicine” at Med.
Vanessa disclosed to Marcel that she has a 10-year plan for her goals. He was surprised, but she had everything organised in a binder. The dishonest patient was using her lupus to seek sympathy and feigning worse symptoms to make money, the donor had a brain tumour that was profoundly disinhibiting his brain, and the young woman had a big tumour on her neck that needed to be removed or she would die. It was interspersed with Hammer’s attempts to persuade her mother not to live on the street. She even offered to pay her rent but was rebuffed. Hammer gave her mother money to patch up an old van, but it was evident she wanted to do more for her. In conclusion, a representative of the company from which Cooper reportedly received bribes contacted Halstead to sign him up. He expressed curiosity in learning more about Cooper’s situation.
