All American Season 7 Ending Explained

The CW’s All American Season 7 finale, titled “Award Tour” delivered the kind of suspense and emotion fans have come to expect — and then left everyone hanging with a final scene that may be the biggest cliffhanger in the show’s history. With a major football rivalry, long-buried family secrets, and emotional decisions about love and legacy, Episode 13 of Season 7 closes out with unanswered questions and the hope for more in a potential Season 8.

The entire season built up to the long-anticipated face-off between the Beverly High Eagles and the South Crenshaw Chargers, but the final play of the game ends in mystery. With Beverly trailing 24–20, quarterback KJ (played by Nathaniel Logan McIntyre) launches a deep pass as the clock runs out. As the ball soars through the air, teammates Jordan (Michael Evans Behling), Cassius (Osy Ikhile), and everyone in the stands watch with breath held — and then the screen fades to black. The ball’s destination is left unknown, setting up a possible continuation in Season 8.

But the game isn’t the only drama.

In a dramatic twist revealed in Episode 11, KJ finds out that his coach and idol Jordan is actually his cousin. Cassius, KJ’s father and South Crenshaw’s coach, comes forward with the truth after Jordan needs a blood transfusion following a stabbing. Cassius tells his son that his grandfather Frank was once adopted out — and that makes KJ and Jordan family.

Cassius’s motivations are another bombshell. He didn’t just take the job at Beverly Hills for the opportunity. He moved there to ruin the legacy of the late Billy Baker (Taye Diggs), as an act of revenge for his father. The rivalry between Cassius and the Bakers isn’t just professional — it’s personal.

The rivalry between Cassius and the Bakers goes beyond work; it’s personal as well.

The shocking news makes both adults and teens very upset. Olivia played by Samantha Logan, comes back to tell her brother Jordan to give their cousins a chance. At the same time, Jordan is hurt and angry about being betrayed, but by the end, he starts to change his mind. He tells KJ that although Cassius had ulterior motives, he also moved to Beverly to give KJ the best shot at a football career.

KJ, who has carried himself with maturity all season, begins to break under pressure. After hoping to win Player of the Year, he’s devastated when the award goes to someone else — while his father is named Coach of the Year. KJ’s feelings start to get worse, and he starts to doubt everything, even his relationship with his dad.

But Jordan steps up. In a surprising turn, Jordan — still raw from Cassius’s betrayal — encourages KJ to see the sacrifices his father made. Despite the complicated truth, Cassius still gave KJ a chance to shine. This marks a key moment in Jordan’s character arc, as he chooses empathy over resentment.

KJ also makes a personal choice in love. After navigating a season-long love triangle, he finally asks Tori (Lauryn Hardy) to be his girlfriend, leaving Amina (Ella Simone Tabu) heartbroken. Amina, who had just begun to realize she had feelings for KJ, takes this moment to reflect on her own journey. She decides to focus on herself and accepts a scholarship to a prestigious boarding school, stepping into her future.

Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll explained that this shift back to the teens was intentional. “Our entry point and main focus is through the lens of our youth,” Carroll said. Episode 13 makes it clear that the fallout from the adults’ actions has created ripple effects for the next generation.

Cassius tries to lighten the mood during the final game, joking with Jordan, but Jordan isn’t ready to forgive. “We’re a long way from being good,” he tells Cassius. Carroll has hinted, however, that their relationship won’t remain broken forever. The show remains committed to themes of family healing and redemption, especially among Black youth.

Carroll shared her vision: “I’m about unicorns and rainbows and putting out content in the world that is helping to heal our community.” This points to future storylines where Cassius may try to mend the fractured relationship with Jordan and the rest of the Baker family. It won’t be easy, but he’s shown signs that he’s willing to try.

Meanwhile, unresolved conflicts continue across the younger characters. Khalil (Antonio J. Bell) still struggles with his own family pressures and his feelings for Amina, who is choosing self-love over romance. The teens are not just playing a high-stakes football game — they’re learning how to navigate relationships, identity, and the burdens of legacy.

And with the game’s final pass still hanging in the air, All American leaves fans desperate to know what happens next. Will Beverly High win? Will the Bakers and Jeremys find peace? Will KJ rise above the shadow of his father’s past?

While The CW hasn’t officially renewed the series for Season 8, fans and creators alike are hoping for another chapter.
