Hearties! We’re returning to Hope Valley with the ninth season of the heartwarming period drama When Calls the Heart. Elizabeth has fallen in love with and married a Mountie (Daniel Lissing) over the first eight seasons of the show, but she soon became a widow after his untimely death. She gives birth to their son, whom she names Jack in honor of her late husband. Elizabeth adjusts to life as a single parent in the years after her husband’s death and is courted by two new suitors: businessman Lucas Bouchard (Chris McNally) and fellow Mountie, Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry). Elizabeth finally chose between the two men in the season 8 finale, a decision that continues to split people. According to the season’s description, “Hope Valley is in a state of growth, with the foundry’s progress and the evolution of key relationships. A Quick Recap of When Calls the Heart Season 8

Season 8 picks off where Season 7 left off. The love triangle between Elizabeth, Nathan (Kevin McGarry), and Lucas (Chris McNally) was at the heart of the season. Elizabeth surprised herself by deciding that her heart belonged to Lucas, despite the fact that he had told her he was ending their relationship. Elizabeth successfully overcame her past (as evidenced by the removal of her wedding dress from her dead husband, Jack) and took control of her future in the finale. Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) became the editor-in-chief of her own newspaper after a promotion, Hickam (Ben Rosenbaum) moved forward with his oil pipeline plans after a promotion, and Carson (Paul Greene) chose not to propose to Faith (Andrea Brooks) and left for his surgical fellowship in Baltimore in the finale. Henry (Martin Cummins) was also departing Hope Valley, wanting to reconnect with an old acquaintance (hinting at a potential return from Lori Loughlin). The drama’s Season 8 finale had the most homes (2.9 million) and total viewers (3.6 million) (Live+3). The eighth season was also the series’ most seen in homes.
