When Calls the Heart Season 9 Episode 1 Recap

Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) just returned to Hope Valley with her son Jack. after a month in Hamilton with her family, and she’s thrilled to be back and reconciling with Lucas (Chris McNally). After she returns, the two share a tender kiss. Lucas makes a point of showing Elizabeth that he prioritizes her and her son over his profession. In the final seconds of the program, he even tells her that he’s leaving the oil business. Elizabeth goes home to a town in the midst of a tumultuous mayoral election. The two frontrunners are Bill Avery (Jack Wagner) and Lee Coulter (Kavan Smith), with Hickam (Ben Rosenbaum) in the third position. Fiona (Kayla Wallace) has unfortunately pulled out of the contest, ensuring that Hope Valley will not have another female mayor this time around. Jesse and Clara have moved from Hope Valley to Montana to start a new life.

Nathan (Kevin McGarry) is no longer interested in Elizabeth. In the meanwhile, Mountie Nathan has grown a mustache in order to cope with his heartbreak. He’s also completely alone. Despite the fact that Elizabeth has rejected him, the two manage to maintain a friendly relationship when they happen to cross paths on the street. He even swallows his pride and asks if Lucas would teach him to drive. Nathan adopted his niece Allie last season, she has returned to her grandparents for unknown reasons. Hopefully, she will only be gone for a short time. A new romantic potential arrives in town. At the big opening of Ned and Florence’s new soda fountain/pharmacy in the premiere, the mountie and the local doctor were matched up, however, it appears they’re just buddies for now, at least. Minnie (Natasha Burnett) is considering purchasing Bill’s diner. Gowen (Martin Cummins) has returned to town, and he’s not pleased to see his old business partner Jerome Smith (Dean Paul Gibson), who has come to Hope Valley to talk business with Lucas. The feud dates back to their time at the Pacific Northwest Mining Company, and it’s most likely linked to the fatal mine collapse from season one. They even get into a scuffle at the Queen of Hearts, with Gowen ending up in jail for the night.
