At the start of the episode, Rosemary and Elizabeth are walking to town and talking about Nathan’s upcoming birthday. Nathan tells Allie not to bother him, and she suggests they go fishing and have a picnic lunch. Nathan thinks Allie is planning a surprise party when Elizabeth says there will be a casual get-together for his birthday. Lucas is on a group call with Bill, Lee, Mike, and Rosemary to talk about where the lodge is in Hope Valley. When Lucas tells them he wants to sell the hotel and bar, they are shocked. Mike is worried about his job because of this news, and Rosemary is worried about Lee’s new tasks and the amount of work he has to do.
Nathan acts strangely as he tries to figure out if Allie is planning a surprise party or just a fishing trip. While Rosemary was upset, Randall Rockwell got another story before her and put Pike’s statement in the paper. Mei keeps staying away from Mike, and Faith gets used to taking care of a young child who is full of questions and energy. Rosemary gets mad when Lee forgets about their lunch date and doesn’t pay much attention when he talks about his business idea.
When Rosemary finds Bill, he tells her that he thinks someone else was behind Lucas’s attack but doesn’t have any proof. Henry is back with Elizabeth and Joseph. He seems calmer and is taking care of the trees near the schoolhouse. At home, Faith notices that Mei is upset and tells her that she is afraid that things with Mike will get serious.
Nathan thinks something is wrong when Florence and Ned don’t know about the party but do know about Allie’s gift for him. Lee goes home and tries to comfort Rosemary by telling her that he plans to buy the office and put Mike in charge of it. Lee still wants to see his family. Lee, Rosemary, Bill, and Henry try to figure out what’s missing and make sure that something isn’t right.
Before Nathan gets there the next day, everyone goes over their party tasks. He makes a guess about the party, and Elizabeth tells him about the mix-up and says they’ll have a small get-together. Nathan says he’ll act surprised. She and Lilly are cute together at Faith’s, but Lilly has a lot of questions about her grandmother and who will take care of her. Nathan and Allie spend the day together and then go to the bar. Nathan is surprised by how many people are there, but he plays it cool.
Lee tells Mike that his new bosses know how valuable he is, which makes Mike happy that Lee and Rosemary are buying the bar and hotel. Mei tells Mike that she is scared, and Mike then asks her to dance. Lizzie finds Nathan outside, and the two of them have a touching moment. However, the sound of singing breaks up their moment. At first, they think it’s for Nathan’s surprise party. At that time, Lucas arrived.
