What happened in the premiere episodes of MAX’s Full Circle?

Savitri Mahabir (CCH Pounder), known as Auntie M, and her gangmates Aked and Garmen attend a funeral together in the first episode of the series. They are part of a violent group responsible for numerous murders and abductions.

Savitri becomes paranoid because she thinks her Guyanese community and she has been cursed. She consults a religious leader in search of a solution who offers her the chance to turn the fortunes of her family around. She must, however, inflict the same suffering on a guy associated with her late husband’s deeds in order to do this.

This begins the primary plot, in which Savitri orders her thugs to abduct Jared (Ethan Stoddard), the son of a prosperous family, with the goal of holding Sam and Derek Browne (Timothy Olyphant) responsible for a sizable ransom. The kidnapping goes wrong, though, and Nicky (Lucian Zane), a youngster who had been eavesdropping on Jared and robbing him of his possessions, is erroneously apprehended.

Together with her supervisor Manny Broward (Jim Gaffigan), Detective Melody Harmony (Zazie Beetz) looks into the string of crimes that are occurring. Circles are a recurring theme throughout the episodes, with two, in particular, standing out. A large chalk circle is drawn in Washington Square Park at the conclusion of the first episode, instructing Derek to bring the ransom money there. In the meantime, Savitri is seen arranging circular heaps of rice around a picture.

The significance of these circles and their connection to breaking a supposed curse remains unclear. Future episodes are anticipated to reveal the mysteries around them.
