The Simpsons Season 33 Episode 13 Recap

Groundskeeper Willie dumps Bart Simpson, Nelson Muntz, and Dolph Starbeam into the wilderness, claiming they’ve “been condemned by the juvenile court to finish the highland walk for problematic kids.” Chief Wiggum’s iPad video starts giving instructions, but Willie quickly gets agitated and shuts it off. While Bart is away, Homer recommends that he and Marge have some fun, but Lisa interrupts with the proposal that she wish to spend the weekend as an only child. She hands Maggie over to babysitters Patty and Selma and shows Homer and Marge a pie chart of how much time she spends with her older and younger siblings. Her parents agree to spend more time with her. They discover a newborn goat confined in a cage after hearing it bleating. They continue on their way when Bart releases the goat from its cage, dubbing their new pet Axel because it consumes metal items from Martin’s rucksack. As the cultists pass by, the boys take off running and shelter behind a rock wall. Lisa and her parents play “Suffragette Monopoly” at home until she looks up at the clock and realizes she’s way behind on her to-do list. She takes Homer and Marge into the kitchen and instructs them to begin preparing bread.

While the goat consumes Bart’s cheesy rations and Martin invites Bart on a trip with his family, Nelson and Dolph stumble to find an expensive Airbnb with a jacuzzi and record player in the Highlands. The cultists track down Nelson and Dolph at the Airbnb and demand the goat, but when they say they don’t have it, they are sent to the dungeon. Over a fire, Bart gives Martin some counsel, telling him to prefer regular things. Martin goes off on Bart, informing him that he sees two therapists and takes a lot of medications to stay in check. Martin accuses Bart of being a conformist because he is only kind to him when no one else is present, and storms off with Axel, leaving Bart alone. He wakes up in his tent the next morning with Axel licking his face, but it’s all a dream, and he’s covered with slugs. Lisa wakes up in Homer and Marge’s bed, regretting her overeating the night before, but she recognises that “it doesn’t get any more only child” than sleeping alone in her parents’ bed.

Meanwhile, Bart becomes hopelessly disoriented in the Scottish Highlands. He asks his compass where direction to go, but when he doesn’t get a response, he figures he’s not getting a signal. However, he soon comes over some cheesy goat excrement and follows the trail to Axel’s location, where he discovers Martin passed out on the ground. Bart claims Martin was correct in his assessment of Bart’s desire for praise from the bullies, but they’re interrupted by Nelson and Dolph’s cry for rescue. The two elder children are tethered to a sacrificial altar, where a swinging bladed pendulum has been hoisted above their heads by satanists. The satanists swiftly give up their charade, removing their masks and turning off their voice-changing software, revealing kids filming a movie. Martin and Bart do a dance to save their buddies, and they manage to free Nelson and Dolph before they are chopped in half. The goat Axel swallows the teenagers’ iPhone, destroying their footage and causing them to cry. Willie’s van takes the lads and Axel back to Springfield. Homer, Lisa, and Marge are relaxing on the couch in the coda, but the cat attaches itself to Homer’s face as Maggie enters and pulls Snowball II’s tail. Then Bart skateboards through the living room in his undies while eating ice cream straight from the container. While Axel the goat begins to eat the couch, Lisa smiles as she flips through a “Only Child Memories” photo album on her iPad.
