In The Blacklist Season 10: Is Robert Vesco Dead?

In The Blacklist Season 10 Episode 6, Wujing is briefing Robert Vesco (Stacy Keach), who is carrying out the torture of Dembe in the next room. Because it is quite likely that any evidence they obtain as a result of their raid on the Task Force will be encoded, they will want the assistance of a Blacklister who is exceptionally skilled in computer technology. Wujing informs Robert that he and Bo Chang. will have to fly to Manila if they want to persuade Chang to join the team. Robert agrees without hesitation but then pretends to have a coughing attack in order to delay getting into the car.

The Doc’s growing impatience with Dembe’s refusal to speak has him fuming back at the torture facility. While she was behind bars, her suffering mother passed away. She was revealed to be the original inspiration for her fascination with agony. She tries to connect with Dembe emotionally by crying about the trauma they’ve both been through because of Red, but Dembe remains resilient. Fortunately, Robert has been on Dembe and our side the whole time. He texted Red his whereabouts while pretending to cough. Although Perillos manages to get away, Malik (Anya Banerjee) and Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff)  do track him down and find Dembe in a horrifying state. Thankfully, they were able to transport him to one of Red’s on-call medical teams in time. Not to mention she’s brand new, Malik has no idea why they’re not on their way to the hospital but rather to a feed store.

When Wujing learns that the FBI has raided his secret house, he can easily pin the blame on Robert. Postponing the visit to the Philippines in favor of firearms and threats. Now that they know the truth, however, Vesco has a pleasingly condescending attitude toward his kidnappers, saying that he has none of the information they are seeking and that Red will eventually put a bullet in all of them because “he’s Reddington.”

When Dembe comes to, he finds Red at his side. As they recall Robert’s double-agenting, we’re taken back in time to see how much he delighted in his spy games. Red assures us that Robert will get in touch with him as soon as he can, but his anxiety is palpable. And with good cause. At the end of the episode, Red discovers Robert Vesco after he has already passed away. Red gives his former adversary a gentle kiss and a solemn farewell before striding out with determination, most likely to find Wujing and do horrible things to him.

Throughout the episode, Wujing discovered that he was serving as a mole for Reddington and promptly eliminated him. Farewell, Robert Vesco/Stacy Keach! This one hurts a little bit. It was entertaining to see Spader and Keach interact with one another. We’re not exactly shocked, though, because it seems like all of Raymond’s loved ones pass away at some point or another. It’s almost as if he’s accepted it as a fact of life.
