In Fox’s new drama Our Kind of People Episode 3, colorism in the black community is addressed. The issue emerged when it was discovered that Nikki (Alana Bright) had fought a girl from her old high school over her grandmother’s dark skin. Nikki overheard three adolescent partygoers boasting about being “house slaves” and not “field slaves” because of their fair skin. Nikki, obviously shaken by the brawl, even pulled her hair. Our Kind of People Episode 4 Synopsis: Angela meets with Nikki’s father, Nate, as she deals with the tabloids chasing her after her paternity secret is revealed. Meanwhile, Angela’s best friend, Tommy “Tizzie” Jones, arrives in Oak Bluffs to help her with the grand opening of Eve’s Crown flagship store. Then, Teddy confides in Leah, Nikki and Taylor get closer and Raymond meets with a face from the past to help get his company back from Teddy.

Angela has nightmares about her mother abandoning her and is determined to get the truth. After Raymond gets her out of jail, Leah returns. She also informs him that she is gay. He informs her that he adores her. Junetteeth is being celebrated by the Duponts. Raymond is arranging for an interview with Angela (Yaya DaCosta) for the incubator programme. Tyrique continues to work on Eve’s Crowns’ renovations. Angela delivers her speech, but Leah questions it and calls it ghetto. Angela, according to Leah, is incapable of taking criticism. Angela tells Leah that she criticises everyone in this manner, and the two exchange passive hostile comments until Angela keys Leah’s car and drives away. Teddy laughs in Raymond’s face and sends him away when he pleads for his companionship back.

Leah visits her mother and attempts to get her to recall the Juneteenth celebration. Leah flashes back to her father injecting her mother with medications because she wasn’t acting right. He informed Leah that her mother was in poor health. Angela is confronted by Leah regarding her mother’s visit. She offers to pay Angela back, but Angela refuses and instructs her to conduct her own DNA test. Teddy is confronted by Angela, who accuses him of sending Leah over to pay her back. It is something he denies. She expresses her dissatisfaction. He appears to be trembling, but he suppresses it and pretends to be sincere. Taylor is out of the hospital and at a party with the females. Lauren’s friend starts a fight, and Nikki almost joins in, but she stops herself and walks away. Lauren and Quincy are perplexed as to why they have to keep things hidden. Leah informs Raymond of Angela’s whereabouts. Piggy goes to a wooded location, but Teddy pounces on her. Apparently, e is aware that Piggy murdered her ex-boyfriend. Teddy tries to exploit this to persuade Piggy to send Angela away from them. Angela discovers that Nikki was defending her grandmother when she beat up that girl and the video went viral.

‘Our Kind of People’ Season 1 Cast

Yaya DaCosta takes on the lead role of single mother Angela Vaughn, Alana Bright, who portrays Angela’s daughter, Nikki, while the Oscar-nominated film Boyz N the Hood star, Morris Chestnut, Nadine Ellis, and Rhyon Nicole Brown play Raymond, Leah, and Lauren Dupont respectively. Other cast members include Kyle Bary as Quincy Dupont, Joe Morton as Teddy Franklin, and Lance Gross as Tyrique Freeman.
