Mayans MC Season 5 Episode 5 Recap
Angel opens the episode by killing a Sons of Anarchy San Bernardino member in front of an ice cream shop, but he doesn’t appear overjoyed about it. The Grim Bastards South Gate charter shows up at the clubhouse, and EZ confronts them because she thinks Charming sent them. They do, however, offer to mediate a settlement between the Mayans and Sons of Anarchy, implying that everyone’s affairs are being heated up by the conflict between the groups. Angel is confronted by Miguel Galindo (Danny Pino), who admits that he knows Angel started the fire that destroyed the heroin and issues a warning to keep the information to himself. Miguel requests that Angel persuade EZ to quit manufacturing heroin and make amends with the cartel.
Angel voiced his worries about drug peddling during a club meeting, saying he thought it was time for it to cease. EZ dumps a bag of cash on the table and leaves the decision up to the club. No one objects to them taking the money and selling drugs. When EZ asks Obispo “Bishop” Losa (Michael Irby) for his judgment after Hank explains the Grim Bastards’ proposition, Bishop affirms the authority of Lucky, the group’s president. They choose to travel to LA.
When Katie McNeill (Stella Maeve) meets with Hank “El Tranq” Loza (Frankie Loyal), she explains that EZ is the rat and the cousin of the previously assassinated police officer Kevin Jimenez (Maurice Compte). When Katie tells Neron “Creeper” Vargas (Joseph Raymond Lucero) about this, he doesn’t believe her because he’s in jail. Angel travels to Sofia (Andrea Cortés) out of concern for everyone’s safety and because of EZ’s drug use. The Deputy Assistant Inspector General, Patricia Devlin (Dana Delany), meets with Miguel in the meantime and asks him about his friendship with Lincoln Potter. If he cooperates, she offers him a chance to keep his family safe.
The Grim Bastards Motorcycle Club (GBMC) arranges a meeting between the Sons of Anarchy and the Mayans. Isaac Packer (JR Bourne), the head of the Sons of Anarchy, calls EZ a wimp and degrades him. In exchange for the California patch, EZ agrees to give up and close the San Bernardino chapter. Isaac, displeased, asks for Johnny “El Coco” Cruz (Richard Cabral) but Bishop informs him that she was shot and is dead. When a fight almost starts, Lucky steps in to stop it. EZ stands up for the Mayans when Isaac suggests a fight to the death between their strongest combatants. EZ wins the upper hand despite taking a battering and commands Isaac’s acquiescence.
Sofia tells EZ she has something to tell him about Angel when they are back at the clubhouse, but their chat is kept a secret. The Mayans applaud as they enter the clubhouse, and EZ and Angel make eye contact. As the episode comes to a close, Isaac and a goon sneak into Coco’s house and plot revenge against Coco’s family.
