Love is in the air once again — but not without a storm or two on the horizon. As the sun sets on the rolling hills of Mallorca, a fresh batch of single hopefuls prepares to enter the villa for what promises to be a wild ride. Twists, bombshells, and unexpected goodbyes are all par for the course in the 12th season of LOVE ISLAND, marking ten years since the reality phenomenon first captured hearts in 2015. With Maya Jama at the helm, presiding like a queen over her court of love-seekers, the 2025 lineup is officially heating up — and one name already turning heads is Sophie Lee.
So, who is Sophie Lee?
At 29, Sophie Lee enters the villa as one of the oldest Islanders in this year’s mix — and she’s bringing a lifetime of strength, style, and soul with her. A proud motivational speaker and author from Manchester, Sophie’s journey to the villa wasn’t exactly typical. Before her public speaking career, Sophie led a dramatically different life — one that involved literal fire.
Long before hashtags and press shots, Sophie was a professional dancer who added fire-breathing to her repertoire for a charity performance in the United States. It was Easter Sunday 2018, the song was Camila Cabello’s “Crying in the Club,” and an over-eager air-conditioning unit blew the flames back into her face. In an instant, Sophie was engulfed—an accident that left her with life-altering burns.
The aftermath would test even the toughest spirit. She endured months of painful treatment, then discovered her scars had grown into keloid tumours that many surgeons feared to touch. One specialist offered experimental cryosurgery; Sophie agreed, becoming a medical case study whose success now guides burn care worldwide. “I was a phoenix from the flames,” she tells Tyla, insisting the ordeal was “worth everything” because it forged a stronger woman.

Instead of retreating from the spotlight, Sophie turned her pain into purpose. She documented her experience in a powerful book and became a voice for fellow burn survivors. Her work with The Katie Piper Foundation has helped shine a light on resilience, recovery, and self-love. Sophie calls herself the “CEO of empowerment”, and it’s not just a title — it’s a mission.
“I want women to feel beautiful and validated in themselves and feel their best self,” she says. It’s that fierce confidence and uplifting attitude that Sophie is bringing into the villa. She’s not just here for romance — she’s here to inspire.
But that doesn’t mean she’s not keeping her heart open. Sophie is hoping the Love Island experience gives her a chance to break old patterns and meet someone unexpected. “At the moment, I’m only finding ones draped in red flags and ‘do not cross’ signs,” she jokes. Her dream partner? “Someone who is fun, spontaneous, who has a lot of jokes and who is attentive.” In other words, Sophie’s ready for a clean slate — and maybe even a clean sweep of hearts.

Already gaining attention outside the villa, Sophie’s Instagram handle @sophirelee has racked up over 95,000 followers and counting. Her posts range from motivational messages to glimpses of her daily life, with a mix of glam, grit, and grace.
As Season 12 kicks off, all eyes will be on Sophie Lee to see how her story unfolds under the Mallorca sun. Will the author write herself a love story to remember? We’ll be watching closely.
