Freeform has confirmed the cast of its new miniseries, Love In The Time Of Corona. Leslie Odom Jr. ( Smash ), Nicolette Robinson ( The Affair ), Tommy Dorfman ( 13 Reasons Why ), Rainey Qualley ( The Daylong Brothers ), Gil Bellows ( Patriot ), Rya Kihlstedt ( Heroes Reborn ), Ava Bellows ( & This Too Shall Pass ) and L. Scott Caldwell ( Lost) will compose the team of actors that will be part of this romantic comedy of four episodes. Love In The Time Of Corona is release to Premiere in August on Freeform.
Produced by Joanna Johnson, Christine A, Sacani, and Anonymous Content, this miniseries focuses on the search for love, sex, and a special connection in times of social isolation due to the coronavirus.
Love In The Time Of Corona will be filmed using remote technologies and recorded at the actors’ homes.
Odom and Robinson, who actually have a relationship, will play James and Sade, a couple who, in a way, have led separate lives. He is a man with a full career, who keeps him on the road while she is at home raising their daughter. Once the pandemic puts them under the same roof, the time they spend together ends up taking them to reassess the relationship and their priorities. Leslie and Nicolette will also be executive producers on this project.
Dorfman plays Oscar, a successful non-binary stylist, while Qualley will be Elle, an aspiring singer and songwriter. With the uncertainty of the pandemic, Oscar and Elle’s platonic friendship tends to get complicated, while his most recent online meeting moves towards a more serious relationship and her crush on a neighbor begins to blossom.
Bellows is going to be Paul; his wife, Kihlstedt, will play Sarah, while their daughter, Ava, will bring Sophie to life. After secretly separating months before the pandemic, Paul and Sarah decide to be quarantined together when Sophie returns home from college. But when Sophie’s boyfriend suddenly breaks up with her, Paul and Sarah struggle to continue the arduous “happy couple” task for their daughter’s sake.
Finally, Caldwell will take on the role of Nanda, a woman determined to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary with her husband, Charles, who is unable to return home when the coronavirus leaves him trapped in a rehab clinic. The actor who will play Charles is Charlie Robinson ( Night Court ).
