Who is Jai Xiong of ‘Spring Baking Championship’ fame?

Jai Xiong developed her passion for cooking by watching her mother’s unwavering dedication to perfecting every recipe she made for the family. Jai Xiong started her home-based bakery in 2014 while studying at Le Cordon Bleu in Minneapolis. After working for some of Minnesota’s prestigious businesses, such as JW Marriott and Interlachen Country Club, Jai Xiong decided to take a chance and launch her own venture in 2021.

Jai Xiong’s Amour Patisserie offers custom luxury cakes and desserts inspired by Korean and French cuisines. Jai Xiong’s meteoric rise to success is a testament to her drive and passion for baking.

Jai Xiong achieved her ultimate dream by opening Amour Patisserie in St. Paul, Minnesota, in June 2021. Her custom luxury cakes and desserts, inspired by Korean and French cuisines, have been gaining attention online, leaving us all craving more sweet treats!

On Instagram, Jai expressed both her joy and disbelief at becoming a business owner: “Since I was a teenager, this has been my ultimate goal – so finally making it happen feels like an incredible achievement. My newfound status as a business owner still takes some getting used to.”

Before opening her own bakery, Jai Xiong worked as an executive chef at a country club. However, she found the hospitality industry to be mentally draining and suffocating after almost ten years of employment there.

Amour Patisserie is the result of Jai Xiong’s home-based bakery business that she began at 19 years old. Inspired by her parents’ commitment to perfecting recipes for local Hmong festivals, Jai was driven both by her love for baking and their ambition to succeed in business.

On February 11th, 2023, Jai Xiong shared her excitement on Instagram that the Food Network had reached out to her to join Season 9 of their Spring Baking Championship. While she joked that viewers could expect some awkwardness and clumsiness from her, Jai expressed gratitude for having been given this unique opportunity to work alongside such talented cooks.

Jai Xiong’s endearing personality has quickly earned her a growing fan base, with some viewers even expressing their desire to purchase cakes from her. In the competition that follows, Jai Xiong will compete against chefs from states such as Mississippi, South Carolina, Vermont, and Florida. Her bakery’s name – Amour Patisserie – reflects her dedication and love of baking; it indeed shows!

We’re rooting for Jai Xiong to win the Spring Baking Championship, and you can catch new episodes every Monday on Food Network.
