An adaptation of the fifth novel in the series, “The Cuckoo’s Calling,” features Tom Burke reprising his role as the damaged private investigator Cormoran Strike created by J.K. Rowling under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. In this installment, Strike’s client, Anna Phipps (Sophie Ward), hires Strike to investigate the cold case of her mother’s disappearance in 1974. In spite of the fact that he is attending to his dying aunt (Linda Bassett from Call the Midwife), he agrees. It’s a good thing he still has his partner in crime solving, Robin Ellacott (played by Holliday Grainger), even though the audience seems to desire them to have more of a personal relationship than just that of coworkers.
