“Today Was a Fairytale “is the title of Grey’s Anatomy season 18 episode 7. When Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is the target of Dr. Hamilton’s (Peter Gallagher) rage, Nick (Scott Speedman) lets her vent her frustrations by scrubbing in on an operation. Meanwhile, Link (Chris Carmack) and Jo (Camilla Luddington) take their children to a fairytale theatrical play that goes horribly wrong in Seattle. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Dr. Lin (Lynn Chen), the new plastics head, attend a recruitment event in the hopes of attracting more doctors to Grey Sloan, but they are caught off guard.

For Thanksgiving, Levi’s mother brings him and Nico food. Nico agrees to spend time with her. Bailey is disappointed to be working on Thanksgiving because Dean’s father has left Pru behind. Richard is looking forward to working on a day with a lot of problems. Teddy and Owen are staying with Megan and Farouk at the hospital to avoid coming home to cook with Owen’s mother and the kids. It’s a slow day in the ER, and nothing is happening, which irritates Webber. Mer and Nick discuss their Thanksgiving horror stories from their medical careers.

Scout visits Amelia for Thanksgiving, and she allows him to stay to assist her in the kitchen and since he will be alone. Noah is unwell and unable to breathe when he returns to the hospital. Noah requests that Owen take his children somewhere to distract him from Noah’s illness. An ultrasound is performed on the pregnant woman who comes in. Her appendix has been perforated, and surgery is required. Amelia and Link prepare a meal together. They wing it because she doesn’t cook. While driving to the cabin, Nick tells Mer about his sisters. He knocks on her door. He shifted his weight. Even if they don’t have to remove her uterus, their pregnant patient requests that Jo tie her tubes during the procedure. Nick and Mer converse and eat together, as well as discuss their holiday plans. Amelink feeds the kids food, and several of them inquire about sex. Teddy explains to Megan that she’s avoiding Owen’s mother because she doesn’t want to cope with her reaction to Leo if he wears a dress. Teddy tries to resuscitate Farouk after he codes. They deliver the patient’s baby, but the bleeding continues. Hayes informs them that they must do surgery on Farouk in order to save him.

Nico’s mother had dinner with Levi’s mother and they discuss Nico marrying Levi and having children together. While Amelia enjoys the show, Link and the kids dance it out. Noah’s wife is told by Bailey to cry, shout, and let it all out because her husband is dying. Mer and Nick have a relationship. After asking Owen how long it will take for him to die, Noah returns home. Their patient underwent an emergency hysterectomy. Farouk was placed on Ecmo and the transplant waiting list. Bailey weeps for Pru and speaks with Webber. Amelia and Link exchange a kiss. However, she informs him that nothing has changed in her life. They have a sexual relationship. Bailey and Webber express their gratitude to Jo, Nico, and Levi.
