For the first time, Yellowstone has been nominated for a SAG Award

The Paramount Network series, which stars Kevin Costner as a Montana rancher nominated by Outstanding Performance by an ENSEMBLE IN A DRAMA SERIES.

Yellowstone’s fourth season concluded earlier this month with series-high ratings. The season finale had an 81 percent increase in viewers compared to the cliffhanger-filled season 3 finale (roughly 9.3 million viewers on Paramount Network).

Yellowstone hit drama on the Paramount Network finally received its first major nomination after four tough seasons that saw its viewership and fandom grow wider. It’s not just any nomination, either: it’s for the Screen Actors Guild Awards‘ Drama Series Ensemble, one of the two highest honors in the television industry (alongside Comedy Series Ensemble). It’s an accolade that extends to the show’s large cast, which includes Kevin Costner, Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Gil Birmingham, and others (even creator Taylor Sheridan, who also appears on the series).

For Drama Series Ensemble, Yellowstone is up against shows like The Handmaid’s Tale and Squid Game, which are both on streaming platforms like Hulu and on premium cable like HBO’s Succession.

Kevin Costner shared his feeling in IG, We’ve got an incredible group of actors on #Yellowstone. Thank you @sagawards for the nomination!

In a statement, “Yellowstone” co-creator Taylor Sheridan remarked the first-ever award nomination: “There’s no bigger compliment to an actor than being recognized by their peers. Congratulations to our incredibly talented cast on this wonderful and well-deserved nomination.”

Yellowstone’s success has spawned two spinoffs: 1883 airs every Sunday on Paramount+, while Yellowstone: 6666 was announced but has yet to air. Sheridan is also the creator of Paramount+’s The Mayor of Kingstown, and he’s currently working on a new series called Kansas City, starring Sylvester Stallone as a mob leader.

28th SAG Awards Release Date

On Sunday, Feb. 27, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, the winners of the 28th SAG Awards will be announced live on TNT and TBS.
