Watch Euphoria Season 2 Episode 3 Recap

Cal, Nate’s father, is the subject of this week’s episode’s first deep dive. We saw his life as, on the high school scene, we watch him dominate the wrestling team, aim to attend Duke, and hang out with his best friend Derek. Cal’s gaze lingers on his friend’s body several times longer than is appropriate, as Rue’s voiceover informs us how close and comfortable the boys were.

When Marsha admits she likes Cal, they start dating. She’s direct, which Rue says makes teen Cal uneasy. Marsha gives Cal oral sex in his car one night. So he does, one day, while they’re both on Cal’s bed. Intruded Cal’s father, a harsh guy like Future Cal. To test if Cal is obviously thrilled, he commands Cal to stand up, which is wrong on many levels, and Cal resists. Cal’s father is enraged. Cal tells his family he’s met a girl tonight during supper. Cal and Marsha are soon having sex whenever they can.

“Derek insisted they celebrate just the two of them,” Rue says. So the boys travel to a homosexual bar and pound some tequila shots. They’re soon dancing and lip-syncing to INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart”. That’s when the goofiness wears off, they draw closer, and they’re dancing with their faces mashed against each other’s necks. They kiss and kiss again. Cal wakes up the next day elated Marsha calls to say she’s pregnant. He hangs up, lays in bed, and sobs.

“Are you high?” Gia asks Rue, who is dancing around the house to “Call Me Irresponsible.” In an aside, Rue explains how she hides her relapse from her sister and friends: by using a different medication. As she speaks, we see a flashback of Rue telling Gia she might start smoking pot to deal with her daily panic attacks. That enraged her little sister, already traumatized by Rue’s addiction. They pushed each other. They weep. Gia eventually made Rue “promise me it’ll just be cannabis and nothing more.” Rue.

So when Gia sees Rue tripping the light fantastic in the kitchen, she assumes she’s high. Also, Rue explains to Jules that she “forgot” to mention Elliot to her, but Jules is unconvinced. “He wants to f–k you,” Jules says when Rue suggests Elliot and Jules would get along. When Rue denies it, the girls head to Elliot’s residence so Jules may question him with a lamp.

Elliot’s sexuality is flexible, and he’s interested in both Rue and Jules, but he wants to be friends with both of them. He teases Jules about her binder, and she retorts, but the whole interaction appears to assuage Jules’ worries about Rue’s new friend. Cal’s truck passes the ladies on their bikes home, which is usually a bummer. In a backyard for some nookie, Jules guides Rue’s hand down the front of her pants, and everything is fine… to go home, snort heroin, and slump. To make sure Nate notices Cassie in the halls, she wakes up at 4 a.m. every day to execute an elaborate beauty ritual. He doesn’t… until she dresses like Maddy.

They’ve been having sex every Friday night for three weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs do nothing except ruminate about how nice it would be to relive their high school years. On Friday night, Cassie goes to meet Nate, but he isn’t there. “I’m sorry. “See you next week,” he texts as we watch him deliver flowers to Maddy’s house. Cal is so worried about the missing disc that he goes to Fez’s apartment. But Ashtray is ahead of him and waits for him at the automobile, rifle drawn. Ash knows Cal won’t call the cops, no matter how much he threatens.

Cal discovers Nate lied about why Fez beat him up at the New Year’s Eve party. “You telling me you had sex with Jewel?” the drug dealer asks, making me chuckle. In response to Cal’s request for the disc, Fez informs him that Nate is “in love with Jewel.” C.L. is bef Fez is dazed. “Until the end of time,” Fez said, letting the bloodied Cal go in exchange for his vow not to bother Fez, Rue, or Jules. When Rue runs out of Fay’s heroin, she decides to become a dealer. Her pitch is cut short by Fez, so she takes her mother’s blazer and heads directly to Laurie, Fez’s source from the season opener.

Rue has devised a scheme to sell narcotics for Laurie with her high school buddies. Worst case scenario! As a result of this, Rue accepts $10K instead of $50K in merchandise from Laurie. Rue brings the drug-filled bag to her Narcotics Anonymous meeting, and Ali notices. She is nasty to him and claims the luggage is full of books. Asked why she can’t ignore him like he’s her parent, she replies that no one expects him to be. At home, Rue opens the luggage and quickly tests the wares. Lexi has written a play and gets permission to perform it at school. Ethan gets a part in the musical, but Kat doesn’t seem to care… Kat meets Ethan’s parents but is so nervous she ruins the evening.
