In the finale episode Of Cruel Summer Season 2 aired, and in it, Brent (Braeden De La Garza) admitted to Megan (Sadie Stanley) that he was to blame for Luke’s demise. Viewers saw in flashbacks how Brent picked up Luke (Griffin Gluck) at the dock before the siblings quarreled over their mother’s passing, which was actually brought on by her drinking.

Luke was pushed by Brent because he didn’t want to hear the truth, which led to Luke hitting his head against the railing and falling into the water. The crime was first covered up after the eldest Chambers child told their father Steve (Paul Adelstein) what had transpired.

However, things changed when Luke’s body was found and Megan and Isabella (Lexi Underwood) were identified as potential suspects. The night Luke was slain, Megan was the only person with a gun in the cabin, according to a censored recording that Isabella reportedly provided the police. Though Brent (Braeden De La Garza) admitted to the crime, the scheme to implicate Megan failed. Megan made an effort to accept Luke’s death in the aftermath, but Isabella vanished without a trace. When Megan discovered a video that showed Luke still alive after his fall, Cruel Summer dealt the audience a shocking blow at the conclusion of the episode.

Cruel Summer Season 2 Finale: Who is Luke’s Killer?

Isabella killed Luke in The Cruel Summer. After Luke and Brent fought on the pier in the summer of 2000, Brent admitted to Megan in the interrogation room that he shoved Luke, forcing him to bang his head on a metal railing and fall into the water. Later in the episode, Megan finds security camera footage of Isabella approaching a barely conscious Luke on the coast and drowning him with her heel before pushing his body back into the ocean.

Isabella was possessive of Megan and didn’t want Luke to share her. When given the chance, Isabella killed him to protect Megan. The finale revealed that Brent put Isabella’s money at the cabin, Megan and Isabella fabricated Luke’s note to his dad, and Luke took the wrong sex tape at the Christmas party, thinking it was Brent’s.

The climactic episode introduces a number of unexpected twists, identifies the real killer responsible for Luke’s death, and unveils the nuanced relationships between the individuals.

Megan, who was initially detained but later freed as a result of Brent’s admission, makes future plans with the aid of Ned.  Her discovery of a video demonstrating Luke’s continued existence following his fall provides the twist. Isabella was the one who spotted him when he washed up on the coast and had the chance to save him. She decided to drown him instead, so admitting that she was actually to blame for Luke’s demise. Brent later admitted to the crime, absolving Megan of any wrongdoing.

When Steve approached Brent about the passing of their mother, however, Brent became hostile. Brent intervened on his own when Steve refused to accept the facts. The head of the Chambers family was detained for being a complicit party in Luke’s slaying.

Debbie (KaDee Strickland) supported Megan and Isabella all through season 2. Debbie didn’t appear in the final episode, but Megan revealed in the finale that she was in remission from the disease.
