Chicago Med Season 8 Episode 2 Recap

Dr. Archer has a son. Dr. Charles knew. he hadn’t seen his son in years Archer cut him off because he didn’t want to see his drug addict kid die. Something at work reminded him of his son. Despite the years, he contacted Sean. He didn’t call him. His son could only be reached through the prison service. In jail. Archer waited years before reaching out. Sean could be mad. He refused. He’s taking responsibility. Sean sought a longer prison sentence. His father didn’t approve. Sean quit, he said. He indicated Sean was always like that and wanted to hire him a new lawyer. Sean has an attorney. Archer disagreed. He wanted the most expensive lawyer. He wants his son out of jail ASAP. Archer didn’t care what his son desired. Sean tired of the lecture. Sean denied Archer. In 15 years, he said to call. Perhaps he’ll change.

Archer was upset and went to work angrily. Archer met a friend at the hospital. ALS patient returned. He had trouble breathing. He needed a laptop because he couldn’t talk and felt his breathing difficulties were fatal. Al wanted to change his life. He was dying. Archer wouldn’t let go. Archer assured Dr. Choi he’d win. Not after Sean. Archer wanted to discuss his son. Work would suffer otherwise. Dr. Charles was alone. A mother with paranoia and delusions prompted a mental assessment. She believed a group wanted to steal her son. She forgot how she reached the hospital. She forgot she almost crashed her son’s car due of an episode. Charles addressed his kid. Henry’s mother has been erratic for a year, he said. He told Charles his mother would get better, but Charles thought it was wishful thinking. Charles urged the mother to analyze herself. Jenny and her son are car-dwelling. She’s jobless. She’s always muddled. When she forgot who Charles was, he sent her for a CT. Marcel rushed in as Jenny was ready to receive a dye to help physicians discover brain abnormalities. Marcel needed more colour. He required dye to complete operation. The hospital is understaffed and understocked. Pandemic. Ukraine’s war. It was still difficult to completely supply a hospital, and Sharon told her doctors that morning they might go without. She didn’t expect a problem so quickly. Both doctors argued. Sharon got a CT because a head wound was more serious than a bullet removal. Marcel’s surgical intern wouldn’t have become cocky, though.

Kai Tannaka-Reid thought he knew more than Marcel. His hubris nearly killed a patient. Marcel rescued the situation. Marcel was a lifesaver. Kai eventually learned he wasn’t god’s gift to surgery. Kai wasn’t the only one making blunders because some med schools ceased physical learning during the outbreak. Archer had an intern. Interns gone wild. Mistakes abounded. Not the doctors. Archer lied to his patient, saying he wouldn’t need a tube. Al must stay on the tube, it seems. Unwanted. He asked not to be tube-fed. Archer told him he wouldn’t end up on a tube, so he was willing to die. Archer miscalculated. He broke commitments. Al’s biggest dread came true. Charles discovered Jenny’s problem. Not crazy. A chest tumour caused her madness. She was herself again when the tumour was removed. Henry was right that she improved. Kai complained about Marcel. He said Marcel was disrespectful and condescending, but Marcel didn’t file a counter-complaint because he wanted Kai on his team. He’d torment him. Maggie’s husband was unhappy and jealous when she told him Vanessa’s father was returned. Dr. Halstead dismantled his destroyed flat.
