9-1-1 Season 5 Episode 12 Recap

Maddie abruptly left six months ago, with no notice. She let Jee-Yun go under the bathwater, dropped the baby off at the firehouse, and taped that devastating message for Chimney, all of which were revisited in this week’s episode. Maddie’s attempt to drown herself in the ocean was next shown, which we hadn’t seen previously. And it was this that prompted her to seek help. But she persisted, returning to the Boston hospital where she had previously worked as a nurse to register as a patient.

Maddie went to a psychiatric facility and checked herself in. The facility assisted in ensuring that she did not harm herself or others and that she received treatment for long-term depression. When her brother died when she was nine years old, she became depressed. She was never given any treatment. With her abusive husband, she went from one awful scenario to the next. Maddie was also diagnosed with postpartum thyroiditis, which is a curable illness in which a woman’s thyroid becomes inflamed after giving birth. She began to see a difference and was eventually freed from the facility. She went on to find a place to live. She continued to attend group therapy at a different state’s Women’s Mental Health Clinic.

Chimney kept sending images and videos of the baby to her. He hoped it might persuade her to return home or inform her family of her whereabouts. Maddie contacted Buck, her surviving brother. She informed him that she had seen Chimney in Utah. He told her that Chimney was looking for her. Buck then inquired as to her whereabouts. She refused to inform him. She knew Chimney would find her sooner or later. Maddie planned to flee the city. She did make a friend in Massachusetts and didn’t want to abandon this buddy who was reliant on her.

Maddie was in Boston when Chimney found out. He went to the location. He brought Jee along with him. While Chimney worked at the Boston Medical Volunteer Core, they stayed with a buddy.  Chimney was running out of money because he had been living off his savings while chasing Maddie, and he wanted to return to Los Angeles. Maddie was thinking exactly the same thing. For her friend Kira (AJ Cook ), she stayed in Boston. Kira resumed her drinking and aggravated her precarious mental condition. Kira was kept away from her child. When Kira and Maddie traveled to the hospital together, they noticed a photo of Maddie on the bulletin board, indicating that she was missing.

Maddie then sought to find her inebriated friend amid a sea of drunk people during a St. Patrick’s Day parade who was near death from alcohol poisoning. She and Chimney both hurried to help her. He was in charge of the parade. He pitched in to assist. He and Maddie both noticed each other but said nothing. Maddie accompanied Kira to the hospital. She left to find Chimney waiting outside after she realized that her companion was being treated properly. Chimney chastised her for leaving. He claimed that the bathtub incident was an accident. Maddie and Chimney had a emotional conversation. Chimney reintroduced her to little Jee after they talked for a while. Jee had outgrown her babyhood. She had grown into a toddler. A toddler who was afraid of strangers. so she didn’t hold her. With time, it improved. Jee even addressed her as “mother.” They both agreed that they’ve spent far too much time avoiding the truth and that they need to start being open and honest about their feelings and desires. Maddie checked in on her friend later. Kira was improving. She needed to go back to rehab, and she wouldn’t see her son for another two months. Kira, on the other hand, must now learn to stand on her own two feet. Maddie is no longer required to babysit her. She needed to get back to Los Angeles to be with her family.
