In May 2022, a spokesperson for 20th Television confirmed that Fred Savage was let go from the reboot series after an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior. The details of the misconduct were kept under wraps at the moment. In a shocking report by The Hollywood Reporter in August, it was revealed that six women who worked on the show had come forward with allegations against the former executive. These allegations, which included claims of sexual assault by a former crew member and accusations of routine verbal harassment and belittlement of below-the-line staff on set, ultimately led to his ousting from the company.

The show’s executive producers are Lee Daniels, Saladin K. Patterson, Bob Daily, and Jacque Edmonds Cofer. The show is likewise run by Patterson. 20th Television, a division of Disney Television Studios, is responsible for making the show.
