Both Risa and Josef meet a horrible end in Season 1’s ninth episode. Risa’s horse is bitten by a snake while traveling, causing her to tumble down. She is paralyzed and unable to move as a result of her injuries. Josef is bitten by the snake when he tries to help her. For the next few days, the pair will be in a bad situation. Josef is forced to amputate his leg in the first season finale, but he survives. Risa, on the other hand, does not fare as well and succumbs to her injuries.
