The team dealt with the fallout of the Jackie incident in episode 3, and there are new questions about the story’s direction in the wilderness as Taissa (Savoy Brown) gains a deeper understanding of her dual identities. Yellowjackets has made it clear that awake Taissa and sleepwalking Taissa are two personalities inhabiting the same body, and that the latter is dangerous. The image of the woman then covers her face with her hands. Taissa’s regular self is confused that her reflection is mouthing. It appears like her mirror is urging Taissa to visit Van, hinting that the mature version of Van will make an appearance in Season 4, Episode 4 titled “Old Wounds”.

Coach Ben (Steven Krueger) spends most of the episode in bed, suggesting that the event from the previous night has left a lasting impression on him and that he may be the next victim. When he’s by himself, he thinks back on the good times he’s shared with his boyfriend. the fact that he will never be completely “safe” in this world.

There’s also the fact that Shauna is pregnant and will soon give birth to a child for which they are completely unprepared. The unusual baby shower for Shauna is cut when a flock of birds swoops down from the sky and crashes to their deaths on top of and around the cottage. All of Lottie’s visions are beginning to heat up, and Taissa’s sleepwalking persona is beginning to take physical form, so Yellowjackets is embracing its supernatural components. The recent worldwide extinction of birds is just one more indication of this trend, and it does not speak well for the future.

In the meantime, Walter and Misty’s journey as detectives continue, and you’ll get to see a lot more of their story in the present. The third episode ends with Lottie discovering her cherished bee colonies covered in dead bees. The hive box full of blood stands out among Lottie’s visions as the most puzzling. the bee hive vision could be a portent of either the past or the future. In Yellowjackets, the meaning of Lottie’s vision won’t be revealed unless the show chooses to do so.
