Which line from the Bhagavad Gita is quoted in the controversial sex scene of Oppenheimer?

Oppenheimer Movie is an exciting movie based on the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, a genuine person. He was an American physicist who was instrumental in the Manhattan Project, which produced the first nuclear weapons. The Atomic Age, during which nuclear weapons played an important role in international politics, was ushered in as a result of this initiative.

The movie chronicles Oppenheimer’s life, his contributions to the creation of nuclear weapons, and their enormous historical significance. It is based on the biography “American Prometheus” by Martin J. Sherwin and Kai Bird. The film was written and directed by Christopher Nolan. J. Robert Oppenheimer is portrayed in the film by Cillian Murphy, and his wife Katherine “Kitty” Oppenheimer is portrayed by Emily Blunt.

Oppenheimer Movie (2023) Ending, Explained!

The new movie Oppenheimer, according to author Shobhaa De, “left me speechless.” In a sexual scene, Robert and Jean were seen engaging in sexual activity as he read her a quote from the Gita.  In response to the movie, hashtags like #BoycottOppenheimer and #RespectHinduCulture have been trending on Twitter.

Cillian Murphy’s character, Oppenheimer, is shown having intercourse with Florence Pugh‘s character, psychologist Jean Tatlock, as she requests that he recite a passage from what looks to be a Sanskrit book (whose title or cover is not discernible). Oppenheimer, who is in disarray, reluctantly reads the verse Jean refers to. The contentious sex scene features the Bhagavad Gita passage. “Now I am become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds.”

Members of the BJP government in India urge a probe and harsh punishment for those responsible. Demanding that the contentious scene be taken out, the major right-wing Hindu group Vishwa Hindu Parishad charged Oppenheimer with attacking Hindu society. Tandav, an Amazon Prime drama, was forced to remove a scene and attend a meeting with India’s Information Ministry after being accused of disrespecting Hinduism.
