The tension between Lucas and Elizabeth is due to his moodiness. She can’t get her mind off of what’s inside the small red box he was about to give her for her birthday. She reveals to Rosemary that she believes it includes an engagement ring. However, the more he waits to give her the gift, the more she fears his feelings for her have shifted. Lucas says that he was worried that his gift would pale in comparison to the engraved watch she gave him.
Lucas responds, “I adore you.” Elizabeth admits that she adores him as well. When Florence discovers fliers promoting new employment openings, she becomes enraged and tears them down. But her energy is soon directed in a more positive direction. She spends a lot of time with Ned (Hrothgar Mathews). He suggests she take up a pastime to help her forget about the terrible memories, which leads her to rediscover her passion for ballet.
Molly (Johannah Newmarch), Fiona (Kayla Wallace), and Faith provide Florence with much-needed assistance (Andrea Brooks). Arthur Gilchrist arrived in Hope Valley to conduct mining operations. He does, however, have a suggestion for Lee. Gilchrist, who works for the Hearst newspaper network, offers Lee a position as a columnist. However, taking the job would necessitate relocating to Chicago, New York, or Los Angeles. Lee is clearly touched. A position like this would provide him with the sense of purpose he’s been looking for. However, leaving Hope Valley would mean upsetting Rosemary.
It would be difficult for her to see Lee take all the credit for The Valley Voice, which is her passion project. In this episode, Lee makes no mention of Gilchrist’s offer to Rosemary. Faith has a crush on him. Robert (Jaiven Natt) asks Allie (Jaeda Lily Miller) for assistance with his postal delivery route. Faith and Molly discuss love with Bill and Nathan discussing relationships. Both couples consider how to move on after a loss. Neither woman says who they’re talking about, but Molly appears to be referring to Bill, and Faith appears to be referring to Nathan.
Meanwhile, Nathan says that after Elizabeth’s heartbreak, he’s hesitant to take another chance. Bill advises him not to miss out on a chance to meet Mei if one arises. Rosemary gives Elizabeth a makeover and she looks exactly like her closest friend. While Minnie was out of town, Joseph should have known better than to try to rearrange Minnie’s spices. Meanwhile, he isn’t pleased with her father’s attempts to meddle in his family’s business.
