Jack goes in and records Rebecca teaching Kate how to play the piano. Fast forward to when Kate was a teenager getting ready to go out; she walks out into the living room where Rebecca and Miguel are watching TV and tells them she’s heading to Molly’s place. Miguel switches off the TV and tells Kate that a coworker informed him about speed dating, 15 dates, 15 minutes at a time and that it’s time for her to leave since she can’t sit with him every night for the rest of her life. Because Toby is out of town, Rebecca is feeding Hailey at Kate’s place. Toby calls to check in and informs Kate that he has been invited to attend a game on the boss’s yacht tomorrow. She urges him to go ahead and have a good time as long as he explains what a modest yacht is. While Kate is in school tomorrow, Rebecca volunteers to stay with the kids.
Kevin enters with the twins, who had been strolling in the stroller. Kevin agrees yes when Madison asks if she can take the kids to the zoo for the first time. Kevin invites Cassidy to the cottage and informs her that Nicky would be present with his new girlfriend. When Randall gets home and sees Beth cooking, he kisses her and tells her it was a bad lunch. But it’s Friday night, and he’s looking forward to spending the weekend with his lovely wife. She informs him that Malik will be in town for 24 hours and that Deja has requested that they prepare dinner so that they can discuss. Beth says she’s hoping for an apology, but she’s not sure. Randall believes she is most likely expecting a child. Beth speculates that Deja would be interested in adopting Malik’s daughter.
When Miguel and Rebecca both go to the speed dating event, Rebecca recognizes one of the men from the PTA, Matt. Kevin dials Randall’s number and informs him of his approaching weekend at the cabin. He reminds him that the last time he tried to have a one-night stand, he ended up with twins. Randall advises him to enjoy his couples getaway and avoid proposing. Kevin tells Nicky after dinner at the cabin that his girlfriend appears beautiful. On our leisure time, Kevin asks Cassidy if she wants to help Nicky oversee the work. Kevin and Cassidy went out for ice cream later on. He reaches out to take her hand, but she jerks back. She tells him that a working connection between them is impossible. She advises him to put things right between himself and Madison instead.
It’s Saturday night dinner at Randall and Beth’s place, and Malik apologizes to them for what happened in Boston the week before. Deja reveals that she will finish the semester at school before joining Malik in Boston. Randall wonders aloud if they’re joking. The other two girls are asked to leave the table by Beth. Randall informs her that she is too young, but Deja quickly counters that in her seventeen years, she has lived more than all of them together, and he has always claimed that she is wise beyond her years. Randall gets up and walks away from the table. Later, Malik follows Randall outdoors and sits by him on the step. Randall apologizes for leaving the table, but he hadn’t anticipated the topic. He tells her that he has to put an end to it, that he has to do it for Deja. Deja is not ready to leave her home, go six hours away, and live with an eighteen-year-old and his daughter. Malik informs him that he will not tell Deja about the talk since he does not want to upset their relationship.
Rebecca went for coffee with Matt after the speed dating, and he tells her that he wants to go out again. Rebecca returns home, telling Kate about her speed dating experience and how she met Matt, after which they went out for coffee. Kate is upset that her mother is out, and she tells her that her father would not have approved of her acting like a slut. Rebecca gives her a slap across the face. Rebecca is now in Kate’s school, where she is playing the piano. Kate is so pleased with her time with her mother that she contacts Toby and expresses her gratitude for being in such a nice place with her mother. Kate and Rebecca return to Kate’s house later, and Kate informs her that following her most recent cat scan, they no longer feel comfortable leaving her alone with the kids. Rebecca declares that she is returning home.
When Randall arrives, Beth warns him that the next time he leaves her with Romeo and Juliette, he should think twice. He informs her that he tried to talk to Malik but that it didn’t work out. Randall informs her that he believes they must be firm on this. She disagrees, believing that he is making a mistake and that they will lose custody of their daughter. Kate pays a visit to Rebecca and expresses her sincere regret. Rebecca expresses her regrets, stating that she is really sensitive about the situation. Kate expresses her regret as well, saying that she believes she wasted a lot of time with her and that now that things are better, it hurts. If Jack hadn’t stepped into a pub while she was performing, none of this would have happened, according to Rebecca. And now she’s seated across from her closest friend’s daughter. Kate inquires if she could teach Jack music, noting that it is beneficial to memory.
