Nickelodeon is bringing the Smurfs back to TV almost exactly 40 years after their debut appearance on American television (September 10, 1981). The Smurfs (French: Les Schtroumpfs) follow the lovable Smurfs on brand-new adventures full of comedy, emotion, and high-octane action. The new series was almost entirely made in Belgium. The Smurfs Season 1 Episode 1 Release Date
On April 18, 2021, the series had its world premiere on Belgium’s La Trois channel. The Smurfs will be available on Netflix in the United States and internationally after 18 months on pay television. Nickelodeon in the United States and Channel 5 in the United Kingdom broadcast the English-dubbed version will air on September 10 at 7:30 PM (ET/PT) and will follow internationally. Peyo Productions first announced the show in 2017. Its European broadcasters were revealed the following year: Ketnet (Flanders), TF1 (France), KiKA (Germany), and La Trois (France) (Wallonia). The broadcast rights were purchased up by the American entertainment brand Nickelodeon for several of its channels in 2020, however, the airing arrangement does not include the original Smurfs series from the 1980s.
