THE LEGEND OF ZELDA MOVIE BEGINS FILMING IN JANUARY 2025

The fans of the animated series, The Legend of Zelda, are eagerly waiting for the shooting of the live-action series that is planned to start on January 6, 2025, in Los Angeles, CA, United States. Now, after the breakout success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Nintendo has once again set its sights on entering the world of cinema, this time with one of its most cherished game series. Thanks to its loyal following and past experiences with video game inspired shows this adaptation has a lot at stake.

It has been announced that Wes Ball, the director of The Maze Runner series and Kong: Skull Island prequel titled, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is going to be directing the Legend of Zelda movie. Ball has already laid some of these foundations for the film stating that he will keep “the money on the screen” and be ambitious in his approach. Nevertheless, information regarding the project is still rather discrete as Ball is yet to give out much information about it, he explains that he is unable to discuss the project further.

When asked during a Reddit AMA about the lessons he learned from working on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes that he plans to apply to The Legend of Zelda, Ball responded simply: Again he said, “Be ambitious. Be confident in the talent around you. Try to do something great.” His love for the project is evident and fans will be hoping that this love will be translated in to the movie thus creating The Legend of Zelda movie.

The Legend of Zelda live-action film will be developed by Avi Arad & Joe Hartwick Jr., and of course with the great Shigeru Miyamoto with whom together created the game in 1986. Some hope that because Miyamoto is involved, the film will remain loyal to the sensibilities of the games. Further, the script writing is under the hand of Derek Connolly, a screenwriter whose recent credits included the scripting of Jurassic World. Connolly’s inclusion is also exciting to fans as they now wonder how he is going to bring the vast adventurous world of Hyrule to life in movie adaptation.

Most studios preferred animation hence why Ball and his team wanted to adapt the series in live action which has both positive and negative reactions from the fans. Ball is well aware of such issues and recently came on public record professing his love for the NBA franchise. More recent interviews showed to the public how much he really cherishes The Legend of Zelda to his life, and comparing it to his love for Star Wars. There you have it – ‘I am a fan. I will go to the ends of the earth to make sure that it is the movie we all hope that it is, Ball said to calm fans down and assure them that he will strive to make something great.

While the specifics of the plot are to this day kept secret as closely as is possible, The Legend of Zelda games have given generations history of Link, Zelda, and Ganon. The movie was designed based on a successful mythology of almost 40-years, and therefore there is a lot that the movie can build on.

It has not been announced though who will be the cast of the movie but people are waiting in anticipation to see who will portray these characters. There is no launch date for the film, yet, but with shooting set for later this year, audiences can expect more news in the coming months.
