A storm is building over the Sanchez family, where lies and secrets lead to a deadly fight. “Keep the Family Close,” the seventh episode of The Cleaning Lady‘s fourth season, shows how Thony De La Rosa‘s unstable alliance with the Sin Cara Cartel falls apart when his new enemies, the Hellers, attack with brutal accuracy. A missed deal, a hidden vault, and a bullet that almost kills someone set the stage for an exciting story of survival and broken bonds of loyalty. Jorge is faced with an appealing offer, and Fiona is struggling with the loss of the person who held her family together. Here is a full summary of what happened in the exciting episode.
A dangerous break-in at the Sanchez home
A terrible chain of events starts when Thony decides to drug Ramona Sanchez and lock her up in the guest house. Ramona, the smart matriarch of the Sin Cara Cartel, tells everyone about a dangerous deal she made with a rival crime family called the Hellers. Her deal was to get rid of her brother Jorge as cartel leader and give up their mining business, which was growing quickly. When she misses an important meeting because Thony got in the way, the Hellers attack the Sanchez home violently in response.
The attack is carried out with chilling accuracy. Heller’s men break into the house and kill everyone they come across. Ramona and Thony are forced to work together, which makes them uncomfortable, so they run for safety and lock themselves in a fortified panic room. With only a wall between them and the people who are after them, the two women have to deal with their different morals. Thony criticizes Ramona’s careless ambition and says she is putting the family in danger for her own gain. Ramona doesn’t seem to care and says that Thony’s choices connect her to the criminal underworld, comparing their need for power.
As the house goes silent, the women cautiously come outside, thinking that the attackers have gone away. They find out why the Hellers did what they did: they were after a secret vault whose contents they don’t know about but are clearly valuable. Before they can figure out what’s going on, a hidden killer strikes. The attacker is quickly killed by Ramona, but not before a bullet goes through Thony’s body and seriously hurts her. As time runs out, Thony tells Ramona to take her to Fiona’s old house so she can get medical help and safety.
Jorge’s Dangerous Dance with Sam Heller
While chaos breaks out at the Sanchez home, Jorge is at a meeting that he thinks is with Hunter Heller and doesn’t know about it. But instead, he meets Sam Heller, the head of the Heller family, who makes a bold offer. Jorge wants to buy a majority stake in Sam’s legal casino resorts in exchange for a 50% stake in Jorge’s profitable mining project. The deal tempts Jorge because it gives him a way to become legal and get out from under the gun of the cartel. Yet, Sam’s sharp comment—that Jorge is too cartel for the Ivy League and too Ivy League for the cartel—hurts and shows how confused he is.
Even though the offer is tempting, Jorge turns it down because he cares more about his family’s legacy and the success of the mining project. But his choice sets in stone a worse fate. When Sam is turned down, he tells his men at the Sanchez house to break into the secret vault that holds the mining land’s deed. When Jorge says no, it starts a war that makes the Hellers strong enemies and threatens the Sin Cara Cartel’s power.
Fiona’s Turning Point in Her Life
Fiona and her kids are not in danger from the cartel’s violence, but they are going through a much more private and quiet crisis. Their beloved family home, which has been rented out for years, is going to be sold. It breaks my heart to hear that Fiona, Chris, and Jaz have moved in with JD. Chris hears Fiona and JD talking about the sale and tells Jaz what he heard. Jaz comes in to get her mail, which includes news that she won a scholarship in a writing contest. The siblings are sad that they might lose their childhood home, which is a part of their shared history.
When Fiona joins them, they have a deep conversation. Jaz says she is afraid that her writing about Fiona’s kindness will make her mother angry. Fiona promises to put herself first more, and Chris and Jaz promise to be more honest. Motivated, Fiona and Benny start a business making fake IDs for illegal immigrants with the goal of making enough money to pay for the house outright. Their plan takes a hopeful turn, but the moment is ruined when Thony, who is badly hurt and being carried by Ramona, shows up.
Thony’s Encounter with Death
At Fiona’s house, Thony is barely alive after being shot. She feels better after talking to her son Luca, who is visiting Fiona’s family out of the blue. Fiona acts quickly and calls Dr. DuPont, a trusted hospital coworker, to treat Thony in private because the nature of the attack means he can’t get care in the hospital. With Ramona’s help, DuPont does an emergency procedure that saves Thony’s life.
A scary detail comes to light during the surgery. As Ramona helps DuPont, she talks about seeing Jorge’s ex-wife Vanessa die, which was thought to be an accident at the time. As Anthony gets better, he starts to think that Ramona’s involvement may be more sinister. Thony’s relationship with DuPont grows stronger during the ordeal, and he tells her to stay away from the criminal world. Thony’s decision to get better at Fiona’s house instead of going back to Jorge shows that her loyalties are changing, which could change her future.
The safe room was tense and full of secrets.
Going back to the panic room, Ramona and Thony’s confinement leads to tense conversations. Ramona insists that Thony is her “greatest project” and that their goals are the same. Thony strongly disagrees with the comparison and stands firm on her morals. Since they can’t get in touch with anyone outside the safe room, they depend on its defenses and hope the attackers can’t get through. The explosion that eventually hits the vault shakes them, but the door stays shut, protecting their weak haven until the house is quiet again.
Fiona’s Family Breakup
Fiona’s relationships are strained after Thony’s arrival. JD tells Fiona to stay away from her sister-in-law to protect their family after seeing how much trouble Thony causes. Fiona refuses because she can’t leave Thony, which makes JD end their relationship. The breakup shows how Thony’s involvement with the cartel has hurt other people, and it threatens Fiona’s newfound resolve to put herself first.
Sin Cara’s Declaration of War
Later, Ramona tells Jorge that the Hellers got her out of jail on the condition that she would hurt Jorge and stop the mining project. Even though she says she did what she did to protect them both, Jorge is furious. The Hellers’ theft of the mining land deed and attack on his home make him want to do something. Jorge tells Sin Cara that she needs to show her strength by joining forces with Ramona to fight the Hellers. This sets the stage for a brutal battle.
