Stargirl Season 2 Episode 9 Recap
The episode began with Bruce Gordon struggling with his debt to Eclipso, whom he had discovered on an island inside the black diamond and who had become the explorer’s greatest fame. To get the woman he loves, Nora, Bruce had to kill her husband, Eclipso. Bruce accepted Eclipso’s invitation and became a corporeal host. In present-day Blue Valley, Eclipso targets Pat, Mike, and Barbara, with Yolanda/Wildcat out of the picture and Rick/Hourman in jail. A coffin in the living room, Pat imagines. Jordan Mahkent appears in the back seat of Barbara’s stalled, frozen-over car, waxing romantic about what they could have had. And Mike gets the chills when the house temperature drops, and Cameron Mahkent shows up. Cameron starts torturing Mike about his role in his father’s death, and then he ices Buddy the dog! On the day Eclipso killed Rebecca McNider, Pat has a flashback to the JSA’s response. Sylvester leaves Pat to talk to The Shade after getting some information from Jay Garrick aka The Flash. But Sylvester is stunned, and he tells Pat that the only way to defeat Eclipso is to destroy his human host.
The JSA votes to kill Bruce Gordon (played by Jason Davis). Ted and Rex support it, while Jay and Pat oppose it. While Pat assumed he and Sylvester were on the same page, Starman breaks the tie with a yea. After the deed is done, Sylvester is visibly shaken. Back in Blue Valley, The Shade saves Barbara from her icy roadside predicament, while Courtney finds traumatized Mike and Pat, using Cosmo to wake them up. Pat tells Courtney the OG JSA’s dark secret: they chose to kill Bruce Gordon back in the day — and how the team members went their separate ways and didn’t reunite until the ISA formed. Pat claims they were never the same. Courtney shivers at the shocking revelation, which she realizes Barbara already knows..
