“Baby steps” travels through the phases of Alex’s ethical problem too rapidly, however, a great deal of what happens feels consistent with the character. As a free kid, she’s constantly figured out how to flourish without anyone else. She’s never required the consideration or direction that her sibling and sister frantically required, continually figuring out how to prevail all alone. That feels increasingly like Alex.

Like every other person in the family, Cam and Mitchell have been dormant, and they’re searching for something new in their life.
