Reasonable Doubt Season 1 Episode 1 Recap

The first episode of the series opens with a woman bound to a chair pleading for her life before being shot. The scene then jumps forward six months, where Jax is with her family and appears to be leading a typical life. She receives a call from Mark informing her that one of her clients may have broken the law. Jax, though, disputes that a crime has been committed. The scenes that follow focus on her stressful job schedule, cranky kids, and bustling home life. She accuses Lewis, her husband, of stalking her after he hired security and earlier gave her an ultimatum. It is evident from their argument that they are currently going through a trial separation. Lewis is then told to leave by Jax.

Jax decides to concentrate on his work. Her client admits that although their sexual encounters in the past were challenging, they weren’t sexual assaults. Jax advises the client to apologize to the victim, but the client is more focused on obtaining an NDA. Jax then gets to work on the case. She tries to get some medication to deal with the problem because she has trouble falling asleep. She is hugging a man as Lewis follows her through the security of the house. Jax persists in working despite her kids’ desire to spend more time with Lewis. When Jax visits Damon in jail, she is furious to find out that he will be admitted to a crime that he ostensibly did not commit. Her mood deteriorates whenever she drinks. She visits Lewis and requests to see her kids. She and Lewis talk to one another.

They end up having sex in the car after both admit to being hurt. She is criticized for her actions after using dubious tactics to end the claim. At a family gathering near the end of the episode, Jax and Lewis present a unified front. Lewis criticises Jax for her self-centered actions when she hurries out of the gathering to get to work. Jax’s “friend” Will pays her another visit, and they engage in sexual activity while Jax admits she has a thing for criminals. Jax looks intently at the surveillance camera as they engage in sexual activity. Does she realize Lewis is watching? She appears to be enjoying it, and Lewis does too. Jax finds out that Kalisha passed away at the end of the first episode.
