Charley is in Southern California for a New Leader Summit. Davis is also present, but they’re both hiding their rekindled romance. Davis fully supports Charley’s political ambitions but warns that their personal relationship will soon be revealed. So when they get home, they tell her family they are dating. Micah is working on a picture project called Pandemic Determination. He’s also sleeping with his professor during the summer. However, Ralph Angel and Aunt Vi are still not communicating.

Ralph Angel has been taking out payday loans, yet he nevertheless buys the kid a nice crib. Also, he quits work at the nursing home to avoid carrying Covid-19 home to Darla and the baby. Ralph Angel expects to generate enough money from the cane crop to pay his expenses, but he’s 60 days behind on a loan. Without complete payment in 90 days, the farm will be foreclosed. It will be a few weeks before The Spot is open to the public. Violet stealthily delivers food to a motel room.

True Papers is Nova’s Defund the Police campaign. Officer Walker, a confidential source in the NOPD, shares Nova information about current police violence for a True Papers exclusive. She pledges she won’t reveal his identity or risk his life. Nova gets home finds an open door and her keys on the table. She left them because she was distracted and late, but the experience bothers her. Nova organizes a Covid-19 immunization drive for St. Jo’s, but the clinics are overwhelmed. Inline, some claim Nova is choosing black individuals for the vaccine and sending white ones away. Nova calls the Sheriff’s Office to assist keep the peace when vaccine doses run low. Sadly, the Sheriff’s Officer dislikes Nova for her anti-police crusade. There are clashes. After a verbal exchange with a woman in line, Prosper is grabbed by a Sheriff’s officer and falls, hurting his head on the concrete. The Bordelon family rushes to Prosper’s aid.
