NCIS Season 21 Episode 1 Recap

As the show starts, Nick Torres played by Wilmer Valderrama is having a hard time dealing with the return of painful memories from his past. He had just come back from an undercover mission. While he was in jail on a mission, he ran into Maurice Riva, the man who had been bullying his family, and they became aware of each other again.

When Torres meets Riva, it sets him off on a downward slide. After a night of drinking and driving, he breaks into Riva’s house and threatens to shoot him. After the event, Torres is hurt and beaten, but the effects will last for a long time.

While Torres’s coworkers at NCIS, like Parker and McGee, are dealing with their own problems, the FBI arrests Torres for killing Riva. This comes as a surprise to them. Even though they don’t believe him, Torres refuses to protect himself and instead chooses to accept his fate.

But as the probe goes on, the case against Torres starts to fall apart. His sister Lucia becomes an important character. She tells about their difficult past with Riva and makes Torres’ guilt seem less likely.

In a shocking turn of events, Marta De Leon, the mother of Reymundo, Torres’s jail friend, is found to be the real killer of Riva. Marta did what she did because she wanted revenge and justice, which led to her confession and disappearance.

In the wake of the experience, Torres struggles with the effects of his actions and thinks about his future with NCIS. Even though he has questions, Parker and his coworkers reassure him and stand by him collectively.

As the show comes to a sad end, Torres gives up his badge and gun, trying to deal with the effects of what he did. While Parker’s words of support give Torres hope for the future, they also tell him to take things one day at a time. Parker receives a phone call and finds out that Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard, played by the late David McCallum has passed away, which causes a drastic shift in the tone of the story. And the NCIS team is shocked to learn that.

The next episode of NCIS is called The Stories We Leave Behind,” and it will honor Ducky’s memory by focusing on one of his unfinished cases. This will give the team closure and comfort during this difficult time.
