MOBLAND has taken the streaming world by storm. Since its premiere on Paramount+, the gritty crime drama delivered massive numbers — 8.8 million viewers in its first week alone. That opening week made MobLand the biggest launch ever for a series on the platform, even beating out hits like 1923, Tulsa King, and Landman. With the series climbing into the top three streaming shows per Samba TV, there’s no denying that fans are invested. So the big question remains — will MobLand Season 2 happen?
While the series hasn’t been officially renewed, the signs are promising. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Hardy (who plays Harry da Souza) made it clear: “The plan is definitely to see more seasons.” That, combined with the show’s massive audience and unfinished storylines, strongly suggests that a second season is more a matter of “when” than “if.”
The Season 1 finale left us with several dangling threads. Harry, who was trying to dismantle the Harrigan empire from within, was stabbed — accidentally — by his wife. His fate is uncertain, but considering the wound was on his right side and the show’s focus on his journey, it seems unlikely that his story would end off-screen.
Richie is gone. Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) is ruling the roost from behind bars. Maeve (Helen Mirren) is plotting with Eddie to keep control of the Harrigan dynasty. And then there’s Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer), whose arrival has completely shifted the balance of power.
The race to be the leader of the criminal gang is still going strong. There look to be three groups ready to fight:
Harry and Kevin (Paddy Considine): These lifelong friends want to take power and put Maeve and Conrad in their place.
Maeve and Eddie – While Eddie went missing by the end of Season 1, Maeve still sees him as her heir. Their return could bring serious heat.
Seraphina (Mandeep Dhillon) – An under-the-radar player in Season 1, she might just become Kat McAllister’s secret weapon in a bold play against the Harrigans.
And don’t count out Conrad just yet. While many think he’s out of the game, there’s every chance he’s being set up for one final stand. If MobLand gives us the kind of explosive drama we expect, Conrad might just go out in a blaze of glory.
Behind the badge, Detective Colin Tattersal (Toby Jones) finds his crusade against the Harrigans in ruins. His corruption is exposed, and his allies are crumbling. If he sticks around in Season 2, it’ll be for revenge or survival.
In short, MobLand Season 1 has laid the groundwork for a sprawling power struggle. There’s unfinished business, rising threats, and revenge brewing across all sides. With the show’s immense popularity and rich characters, a second season feels inevitable.
