Ken has been awakened as a result of Ben’s betrayal, and the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. If the Super Squad is unable to destroy or trap Ken, there is no telling how much havoc he will leave in his wake. Jen will hopefully be able to reach Ben and enlist his assistance in defeating Ken. Hope became trapped in an astral projection in New Orleans, where she was greeted by her family one by one. Rebekah, Freya, Marcel, and Kol teamed together to help Hope reclaim her humanity. They did so by using her father’s death as an excuse, informing her that they had decided she should be the one to select where Klaus’ ashes should be scattered. Hope was unaffected and irritated at first, but her cool eventually wore off and she regained her humanity. Hope’s humanity triumphed in the battle, but her humanity-less ego loomed large.
Meanwhile, Kaleb took Cleo to Atlanta, Georgia, to meet an old psychic acquaintance. With her abilities, Kaleb believed his friend might assist Cleo. Cleo, on the other hand, glimpsed the future, and it was bleak. The episode’s other failed scheme involved Lizzie and Aurora collaborating with Ben to rouse Kronos. Ben knocked Aurora unconscious and grabbed the key as well as his family’s sarcophagi, driven by the urge to bring his deceased sweetheart back to life. Alaric despatched MG to the Salvatore School to prepare the pupils for a war with the gods, while he sought clarification from the old vampire hunter version of himself. At the end of the episode, Jen persuaded Lizzie to return home, reuniting her with her father and MG.
