Who is Karen Gacy?

She loved her bigger brother very much when she was a little girl. She noticed changes in him that she didn’t understand as they got older, but she never thought that he was one of America’s most famous crooks.
John Wayne Gacy used to be a successful businessman and active member of his community. But in the 1970s, he turned into the scary Killer Clown and killed 33 young men and boys. The effects of Gacy’s acts went beyond the people he killed. They also affected the lives of those who loved him, like his sister Karen.
Karen Kuzma talks about her troubled relationship with her brother in interviews that have been shown on some films and TV shows. Growing up in a home where their angry father was always present, Karen and John became close as kids. But because their father abused them, it was hard for them to connect. It was a scary and tense place.
