Dave Season 2 Episode 7 Recap

Dave’s flashbacks are taken in “Ad Man” where Emma (Christine Ko) works on the Mountain Dew campaign. They work together for a fictional advertising agency. And they don’t shy away from surfing chat roulette. And they are trying their best to go from billboards to pitching commercials. And together, they’re working on creating a pitch for Mountain Dew that’s completely new and different. And that showcases Dave’s rapping ability. But on the contrary, Emma lacks the respect she deserves. Because male-dominated comes in the way.

Both Emma and Dave are not happy with their jobs at the advertising agency. But Emma’s goal is to “make great videos”. For Dave, it has to do with being one of the greatest rappers of all time. Dave confides in Emma. Dave says “I watch The Truman Show which inspires them to keep chasing their dreams”. At various points in this episode, Emma encourages Dave to pursue his dreams.

But Dave fails to deliver his lines for the XXL Freshman List shoot, Emma remembers encouraging him several times in the past. But she also realizes that their relationship is not symbiotic. In her advertising agency days, Emma’s work always lagged behind Dave’s. When she learns that’s still the case, she decides to pursue opportunities to be creative outside of Lil Dicky’s environment.
