Andor Season 2 Episode 9, titled “Welcome to the Rebellion,” opens on a storm-swept Coruscant, and the weather is no coincidence. The political storm brewing inside the Galactic Senate is just as fierce. Tensions are mounting, fear is spreading, and betrayal lurks in the corridors. This episode marks the end of yet another arc and pushes our main characters toward their final paths before the events of Rogue One. For Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), the road to self-determination nears a turning point. Meanwhile, Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) and Bail Organa (Benjamin Bratt) are forced to gamble everything in the name of rebellion.
CORUSCANT UNRAVELING – MON MOTHMA & BAIL ORGANA
In the echoing corridors of the Senate, Bail Organa watches helplessly as Stormtroopers arrest Senator Dasi Oran (Raphael Roger Levy) of Ghorman without charges or a warrant. Bail tries to warn fellow senators: “My people today, yours tomorrow.” Mon Mothma arrives just as the injustice unfolds, and the two discuss the Ghorman massacre. The Empire has silenced the death toll, rewriting history in real-time.
Mon shares her plan to speak out during tomorrow’s Senate session, knowing full well it could cost her everything. Bail reminds her of the importance of leadership and urges caution. He reveals that an escape plan is in place — but only for her. She mistakes his concern for cowardice, but he clarifies: the Rebellion needs her alive and vocal. He also warns her: Senator Ton discovered a listening device in her office.
CASSIAN RETURNS – THE RELUCTANT HERO
Cassian, battered and worn from Ghorman, arrives at Luthen’s gallery, where Kleya (Elizabeth Dulau) readies him for another mission. He’s to resume the identity of Rooni Goojah, a journalist, to help extract Mon Mothma. Though she provides him a Surface Pass, Cassian coldly states he won’t be needing it for long — this mission will be his last.
Kleya challenges him, arguing that Mon is risking her life to speak the truth, while Cassian is planning to walk away. He brushes her off, believing Luthen (Stellan Skarsgård) will understand. It only deepens the divide between him and the rebels he once saw as allies.
TRUST SHATTERED – MON DISCOVERS THE SPY
Back in her office, Mon and her aide Erskin (Pierro Niel-Mee) discover the listening device, just as the ISB registers the signal loss. In hushed tones, they discuss where she can practice her speech in private. Erskin suggests the plaza.
In a chilling turn, she meets Luthen there — the last person she wants to see. Luthen reveals that Erskin has been working for him for two years. Mon, feeling betrayed, is shaken to the core. Luthen insists it was necessary, especially now. One member of Bail’s extraction team is a double agent, and Mon needs protection.
Mon confronts Erskin, who confirms his connection to Luthen. Enraged, she fires him, fracturing Luthen’s plans. The rebellion’s secrecy has created a network of spies and lies — and it’s coming apart at the seams.
THE SETUP – LUTHEN, KLEYA, AND CASSIAN PREPARE
Outside the Senate, Kleya and Luthen meet with Cassian, who continues to argue for escape after the mission. Luthen refuses, claiming his work on Coruscant isn’t done. Kleya, furious about Mon firing Erskin, warns they no longer have inside access.
They worry Mon might be arrested before she even speaks. Meanwhile, Mon’s driver, Kloris (Lee Ross), reports to the ISB that she stayed late at the Senate. The listening device going silent only raises suspicions. ISB Attendant Felzonis (Ragevan Vasan) takes the matter to Supervisor Lagret (Michael Jenn), warning that senators plan to challenge the Empire’s actions on Ghorman.
DOUBLE AGENT REVEALED – BESKA STRIKES
As Cassian enters the Senate, Bail’s extraction team also infiltrates: Beska (Ana Ularu), Selko (Akshay Khanna), and Charval (Beru Tessma). Their mission: quick and quiet extraction. But Beska slips away to make contact with the ISB, revealing herself as a mole working for Supervisor Jung (Robert Emms).
Charval catches her mid-transmission, and she kills him on the spot. The team is now two. Inside the chamber, the tension is unbearable. The Rebellion could be days from collapse if Mon doesn’t make it out.
THE SPEECH – MON MOTHMA RISKS IT ALL
Before the Senate session, Mon and Bail meet again. She is visibly anxious. Bail reminds her of her courage and tells her that a team will meet her at Gate 9 after her speech. Though she questions their loyalty, he assures her this is the only chance.
Inside the Senate, Bail invokes Article 17-252, giving Mon the floor under emergency protocols. He frames it using the very rhetoric used by pro-Empire senators — they’ve all called Ghorman an emergency.
Mon takes the floor. She speaks from her heart, recalling a lifetime of service to the Senate. As her voice rises, the ISB moves to cut the Senate feeds. She has only moments left.
REUNIONS AND REVELATIONS
Cassian brings Mon to a safehouse where Kleya awaits. They reunite with Wil (Muhannad Bhaier) and Dreena (Ella Pellegrini), survivors from Ghorman. Wil is injured and requires medical attention unavailable on Coruscant. Kleya informs Cassian that Mon will be escorted to Yavin by the Rebellion for a speech, highlighting a disconnect between Luthen’s operations and the broader Rebellion
CASSIAN ANDOR AND BIX: A HEARTBREAKING GOODBYE
After surviving the chaos and danger on Coruscant, Cassian Andor returns to the quiet comfort of home—and to Bix Caleen (Adria Arjona). Mon Mothma’s speech may have stirred something inside Cassian, but it hasn’t changed his resolve. He tells Bix he’s done. He’s tired. He believes he’s given all he can to the Rebellion and that now it’s time to step away before things get worse.
Over a cup of tea, he shares his dream: a quiet life together, far from war and pain. He believes they can find peace somewhere—places like that still exist. Bix listens patiently, quietly. But her mind is elsewhere, thinking of what the Force healer once told her.
By morning, Cassian wakes to wind chimes and an empty bed. Bix is gone. He searches their home, hoping it’s just a morning walk—but there’s no sign of her. Then he finds the message she recorded heartbreaking message, choosing the Rebellion and freeing him from the guilt of leaving it all for her. “I can’t be the reason you leave here,” she says. Her words hit hard, especially knowing Cassian’s fate in Rogue One. He rushes to stop her, but it’s too late—every ship has left Yavin.
Though heartbroken, Cassian isn’t left completely alone. At the end of the episode, he learns that the KX unit he recovered is being powered up—a small light in the darkness. It’s the beginning of his bond with K-2SO (voiced by Alan Tudyk), a companion who will follow him into the final chapter of his journey.
